One of the mayor strengths of R is the large variety of packages and methods for data analysis. However, the aim of this resource is to learn and practice basic programming and to learn and understand the basic concepts of programming using base R. Only few additional packages will be used and/or briefly discussed for special tasks. This book is specifically taylored to participants of the course Introduction to Programming: Programming in R offered by the Digital Science Center (DiSC) at Universität Innsbruck. Open course Data Analytics Data Analytics is a new course organized jointly for the bachelor curriculum Wirtschaftswissenschaften and the complementary subject area Digital Science at Universität Innsbruck and its Digital Science Center (DiSC). The topics covered encompass multivariate analysis, cluster analysis, independence (A/B) testing, (generalized) linear models, flexible regression. The main teaching resources are provided in an OLAT course (open to guests). Here, a growing list of accompanying R tutorials will be provided. Open course Flexible Regression Models This course is about Flexible Regression Models. The course provides detailed knowledge of methods for the analysis and modeling of complex data using modern semiparametric methods. The course aims at being able to independently handle complex regression questions, using the statistical software R, and to communicate the results. The course includes a variety of applied and simulated examples and offers dozens of helpful code snippets that can be used to work on your own problems. Open course Scientific Coding in Julia Scientific Coding in Julia is a learning resource for all those who are interested in getting a brief glimpse into Julia, Data Science and/or Parallel Computing. It is designed to fill roughly twelve hours of in-classroom teaching and was prepared for a workshop at the DK CIM & DP DOCC Summerschool 2022 in Obergurgl. However, the material is self-contained and therefore also suitable for self-study. Open course Applied Microeconometrics with R Applied Microeconometrics with R is an project that will gradually turn the course materials for the Econometrics and Statistics: Microeconometrics course at Universität Innsbruck into an online book. The topics covered roughly follow the book Analysis of Microdata by Winkelmann & Boes (2009, Springer-Verlag) and encompass: models for categorical responses (binary, multinomial, ordered), count data, limited dependent variables, and duration models. Open course Meteo API The Meteo API provides access to a large climatological data set with decades of observations across Germany. Allows to request data in different formats to practice the interaction with APIs and encoding XML/JSON data. This resource is used in introductory courses to data management (R/Python) such as Introduction to Data Management: Management of Unstructured, Semi-Structured and Structured Data offered by the Digital Science Center at Universität Innsbruck.
