Steam’s year-in-review stats are now available, as Valve goes against the
strategy of Spotify Wrapped by actually waiting until the year is nearly over to
provide some sharable data breakdowns. The activity represented is drawn from
January 1st through December 14th.

These quick posts of ours have comments now, so you can show off yours if below
if you like, although mine just shows how much time I haven’t spent on my Steam
Deck so far.

If you prefer other platforms, there are similar setups for PlayStation and
Nintendo gamers. Xbox doesn’t have anything official, but TrueAchievements built
a third-party recap.

Elon’s trash is Mastodon’s treasure.

Mastodon creator Eugen Rochko told TechCrunch that his platform saw “a huge
spike” in membership around the news of Elon Musk buying Twitter, and another
one around his firing spree. Mastodon’s iOS app has seen 1.8 million downloads
over the last 90 days, and the platform currently has 2.5 million monthly active
users. That must be overwhelming, since Mastodon currently has...one full-time
employee.

(That 2.5 million, by the way, includes a number of Verge staff. Come say hi!)

If you’re supposed to be flying today, I’m very sorry.

Reuters reports that a whopping 3,900 US flights have been canceled today.
That’s in addition to “nearly 2,700” flights that were supposed to take off
yesterday.

Frustrated holiday travelers can thank severe winter weather conditions, which
are currently moving through the midwest towards the northeast. Delays are
likely “from Boston to D.C. Metropolitan area airports, Seattle-Tacoma and
Portland International Airports and Aspen”, the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) said.
