Frequently Asked Questions

What is the FFCRA tax credit program?
In March 2020, the enactment of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act
(FFCRA) provided a framework for businesses to extend paid sick leave and
unemployment benefits in the wake of COVID-19. Initially, the FFCRA primarily
supported businesses with W-2 employees, aiming to mitigate the economic fallout
from the pandemic.

By December 2020, the passing of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic
Security (CARES) Act broadened the scope of the FFCRA. This expansion included
not just employers but also self-employed individuals, allowing freelancers,
independent contractors, and gig workers to access tax credits. These credits
compensate for income loss due to COVID-19, effectively paying back for the time
they could not work.

The FFCRA, a federal law crafted as a response to COVID-19, offers a range of
benefits: paid sick leave, complimentary COVID-19 testing, food assistance,
unemployment benefits, and health insurance safeguards for employees. For the
self-employed, it provides similar benefits through tax credits claimable on
income tax returns, offering reimbursement for lost work due to COVID-19-related
sick leave.
How much is the FFCRA credit?
The maximum FFCRA Tax credit, which can reach $32,200, relies on your net
earnings from self-employment in both 2020 and 2021.

To determine your FFCRA credit, we employ your average daily self-employment
income (calculated as your net earnings for the taxable year divided by 260) and
consider the amount of self-employment work you missed due to COVID-19-related
matters. This enables the IRS to estimate the income you forfeited for each day
you couldn't work.
Why haven’t I heard of this before?
At first, the FFCRA primarily targeted employers with W-2 employees. Although
the CARES Act, passed in the same year, extended Tax Credits to self-employed
individuals, this change was not widely promoted. Research indicates that more
than 80% of self-employed individuals are unaware of their eligibility for FFCRA
tax credits.
Is this similar to the PPP program?
The PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) and FFCRA (Families First Coronavirus
Response Act) are two separate measures aimed at addressing the economic
repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. PPP aids small businesses through loan
provision, which can potentially be forgiven. In contrast, FFCRA is not a loan
but rather a tax credit applicable to taxes already paid by individuals. While
PPP provides assistance to businesses, FFCRA is centered on assisting
individuals.
What is the average FFCRA refund
The average customer has received an FFCRA refund of $9,400.
What should I expect after submitting
The IRS is currently handling a backlog of amended Form 941 submissions related
to the Employee Retention Credit and the Families First Coronavirus Response
Act. Consequently, if you opt-out of the advance option, there might be a
significant delay in receiving your refunds. The waiting times can vary, but
it's common for new applications to take anywhere from 5 to 8 months on average.
How can I monitor the refund status?
To check your refund status, you can directly contact the IRS at (877) 777-4778.
Our Customer Support team is also available for updates during your refund
process.
How will I receive my FFCRA refund?
The IRS will mail your 2020 and/or 2021 FFCRA tax credit payment to the address
in your application. It's important to be aware that if you have any unpaid tax
debts, the refund will be applied to those outstanding balances before you
receive the payment.
How long does it take to receive a refund?
It can take 4-6 months to receive your refund. We offer an advance option that
will expedite this time to just 24-48hrs
is there a deadline?
The deadline for making changes or amendments to your 2020 and/or 2021 tax
returns in order to claim or adjust FFCRA credits is within three years from the
original due date of the return or within two years from the date you paid the
tax, whichever comes later. Specifically, the deadline for claiming the FFCRA
tax credits for your 2020 tax return is April 15, 2024, and for your 2021 tax
return, it is April 15, 2025.
Does this have any impact on filing for 2023?
Claiming the FFCRA tax credit will not affect the process of filing your annual
income taxes for 2023. To obtain the FFCRA tax credits, our team of certified
public accountants (CPAs) will make revisions to the taxes you have already
submitted for the years 2020 and 2021.
How can I claim the FFCRA tax credits?
To access the FFCRA tax credits, you'll need to confirm your eligibility and
make changes to your 2020 and/or 2021 tax returns along with their supporting
documentation. While it's advisable to engage a Certified Public Accountant
(CPA) for this task, it can be both time-consuming and costly.

Alternatively, you can click on the "Apply Now" button located at the top right
corner of your screen. By answering questions, you can allow us to handle this
process on your behalf. Our team of CPAs are ready to help self-employed
individuals and sole proprietors to access the federal FFCRA tax credits that
they are entitled to.
Why should I work with a specialist?
The tax code is extensive, with over 70,000 pages, making it impractical to
fully grasp every aspect. Our expertise is specifically focused on FFCRA & ERC
Tax Refunds. This specialization is akin to the difference between a general
practitioner and a neurologist. By dedicating our efforts exclusively to this
program, our strategic partners have developed a profound understanding of its
intricate nuances. This expertise enables them to accurately evaluate your
eligibility and calculate your refunds with precision.
