No you won't see any instruction as what dealers are selling is just the parts
like any other spare parts meant to replace the defective parts by certified
technician following the factory workshop.

But that won't prevent you from buying the parts and do a retrofit but you are
on your own figuring out the wiring and all that.

However, if Lexus releases the lighted door seal as an accessary self install
kit meant for the end users then I would expect to see all the wirings,
connectors, instructions etc. But I doubt that will happen.

I'm confused as to this post. Are you saying they only have these for the 01-05
IS? I have been eyeing these for a little while now. L-Tuned had these way
before the 08 GS's even came out, and they have them listed as available for the
06-08 GS.

Yeah the set of 4 are supposedly for the GS but the set shown on Carson's site
is strictly made for the 01-05 Gen 1 IS300 only. I need to contact Steve and
Luis about it.

The one for the 3GS is the one listed on Lexus.com's site as an accessory.

Also to add, I verified the operation with my friend JoeZ on his 2008 IS350, and
DVD's played while doing the NAVI override works normally with the audio track
of the DVD playing along with video.

The set you pointed to on our site is for the Lexus Japan set the we import in
from Japan.

The set you guys are referring to is for the Lexus USA set, which only includes
2 sills (the lighted front pair)

These are 330.00 for the set

Luis, are you sure? My friend ordered these for his 2GS and they were the blue
lighted sills and were for the IS300. I can verify his order if you like. I'll
shoot you an email once I do.

if it were for the is300, then i guess they won't fit on the 2gs or the 3gs
right?

That's right, they are the wrong fit for the inner rocker's curvature and shape.

Illuminated door sills

These illuminated door-sill protectors are made from heavy-gauge brushed
stainless steel. They custom fit the contours of the door sills and offer
protection from unsightly scuffs, dents and scratches that may occur while
entering or exiting the vehicle. On the driver's and front passenger's door
sills, a small, white LED bulb illuminates the Lexus logo whenever the door is
open.

When I was in yesterday getting my XM module installed on my new GS350, I asked
about the doorsills, figuring that they could be easily purchased and added
after the fact, but my service rep said that it could not be done. It was a
factory only item.

Any idea if he was right?

Has anyone successfully added them after getting your car?

Well, *IF* it requires special wiring which is not preinstalled, then he might
be right in the sense that it's so expensive you wouldn't want to try.

Still, I'd love to hear from anyone else who had it done -- I'm not the type to
do it myself -- after buying the car and how much it costs to get it done then.

nothing can be that "special" about wiring, it's just.... wires. i am pretty
sure you can still buy those sills, how you do the wiring that's another story.
i can understand why dealership wouldn't want to install it for you.

someone correct me if i am wrong, but i was told that accessories like
illuminated door sills are installed NOT at origin but when it's at the dealer
of destination during prepping

I checked my own car, on the driver side, i noticed the rubber seal didn't
completely cover the edge, so i had to adjust it myself. I would assume that
Lexus Japan would never allow this to happen if it's installed at the factory.

of course the dealer can install it, just whether they want to or not.

So what was the final verdict, will the L-tuned Illum Door sills (set of 4) from
Japan fit on the 3GS ? If not, can we order the US spec Illum Door sills (set of
2) and retrofit to the 3GS ??? Can Carson Toyota verify this . . .

I have placed an order for illuminated door sills for the 3GS. Supposedly, there
are four sills (front and rear) with wiring harnesses. This kit is obviously for
a 2008 GS350.

The parts guy said that the information associated with the part number
indicates a fit for an ’07 as well. I believe I have read where the ’08 only
comes with lighted sills in the front.

I will be curious to see the harnesses to determine if they will “plug-in” to
the existing wiring on an ‘07. Expect a follow-up post from me when I receive
the kit (about 10 days).

Hey guys, I just wanted to post this up to clarify for you guys. The sills in
this link
http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=2019

are for the 3rd Gen GS. These are the set that we import from Japan that has all
4 sills and all 4 sills light up. I actually have a set here in stock now.

The part number PT413-30070 is for the US kit sold through your local Lexus
dealerships. These retail for about 369.00 and fit the 07-08 GS as well. As
stated by our local dealersghip, only the front 2 light up. I have not ordered a
kit yet so I can't verify that. As some of you know the IS350 sill were done the
same way, only the front 2 light up, and the rear 2 only had an aluminum insert.

Can you do us a favor and look at the one you have in stock.

1. Do the ones in the rear have lights?
2. Are they "plug and play" for a 2006 or 2007?

Also in his statement: "As stated by our local dealersghip, only the front 2
light up. I have not ordered a kit yet so I can't verify that."

I read two segments of conflicting information, which is why I asked for
clarification.

He said the one he has in stock is the one imported from Japan. 4 sills, 4
lights up.

Then he mentions that there is a US kit sold for $369, cheaper than the japan
kit that can be ordered at local US dealer and it only lights up front 2.

I guess the best way is to see if a local dealership has a set of the US ones in
stock, so they can check if the four light up. I called the lexus dealers in our
area, and they have to be ordered.

The JDM ones I have, all four light up. I also looked at the package and there
are some wires that plug in, and some that have the tap connectors at the end.
Here are some pics I just added up

In this pic you see 1 front and 1 rear sill

here is the back of the sills

and here are the package of wires and hardware they come with, pretty much the
tap wires are power and ground

The JDM Lexus version of the doorsills are thinner in profile as far as actual
height of the piece. You can see that is evident with the black textured border
around the plates.

Well that is nothing new, Japan always gets the new goodies first, and then it
comes to the US (if at all). For years the 'real' Skyline was never available in
the US, and the GS350 was available in Japan almost a year before it came over
here. I guess rank has it's privileges. . .

Update:
I received the kit this morning. Part number is: PT413-30070
Price shipped via UPS: a few dollars less what was reported here

Kit includes:
Hardware kit w/power harness
Left and Right Front Illuminated Door Sill Protectors
Left and Right Rear Door Sill Protectors (*not illuminated*)

Please refer to Post #62 above for pictures. The sills look almost identical
except that the black textured border (plastic) extends: (1) 2 1/2" either side
of the brushed aluminum for the front and (2) 1 1/2" either side of the brushed
aluminum for the rear. The overall length of the front is 24 5/8" and 15 1/4"
for the rear.

The color of the lens on the illuminated ones looks just like a soft white light
bulb. I suspect they light up white, however if the actual bulbs (or LED's) are
blue, then obviously they will light up blue. There is no way to tell just by
looking at them.

I purchased this kit from a Lexus dealer who was kind enough to print out 22
pages that give very detailed instructions. The header at the top of each page
says:

LEXUS GS350/430/460 2007- Illuminated Door Sills

This definitely can be a DIY project. The wiring harness taps into existing
wiring found in the cowl area on each side (i.e. left of the parking brake).
Again, the instructions are very detailed. I would estimate less than 1 hours
work for the front. The rears may take you all of 5 minutes. In my opinion, I
see no reason to install the rear sills unless you just want all four to match.
My '07 factory sills do not have black plastic textured boarders; just a brushed
aluminum sill that mounts flush to the painted surface. The ones in the kit are
1/4" thick at the top and 3/16" thick at the bottom.

Hopefully this has been helpful in your decision to purchase or not. Thanks go
out to Carson-Lex (Luis Salazar) for his information as well.

Here are some pics I just added up

In this pic you see 1 front and 1 rear sill

here is the back of the sills

and here are the package of wires and hardware they come with, pretty much the
tap wires are power and ground

I might buy a set, and sell my two fronts that came factory illuminated (white).
Anyone interested in buying my front illuminated sills, PM me for info.

Luis, I'll give you a call very sooon.

Please refer to Post #62 above for pictures. The sills look almost identical

I purchased this kit from a Lexus dealer who was kind enough to print out 22

says:

LEXUS GS350/430/460 2007- Illuminated Door Sills

This definitely can be a DIY project. The wiring harness taps into existing

If this was a direct plug and play (plugs hidden under the sills like the IS )
then I would loved to have tackled this.

So I was the one that ordered the Lexus Japan Illuminated Door Sills from
Luis... As we are busy remodeling the house I didn't even try to install them
myself, Auto Fashion did that for me, they got it done is less than 1 hour...

They definitely look very nice and provide some extra "Luxury" at night. The
light color is more on the white side than on the blue side, specially in real,
the picture did make them look more bluey than they really are.

Remember this is the Lexus Japan Illuminated Door Sill, the one with all 4
doors!

Front door

Rear door

the install?

I got them from Luis at Carlson Toyota, they retail for $500 and I pay $80 for
install.

I do not even know if any 3GS come without door sills, but if they do and
someone is interested with NON illuminated door sills for cheap... PM me...

I just returned a RX loaner that had the 4 lighted sill plates as well. I
thought they would brighter, they look better in the pictures than they do in
real life.

So it looks like no one has gotten the US ISPs (white front only) and
retrofitted to a 3GS yet. Was hoping someone would post up a DIY write-up on
this to see how simple/hard a project it will be...

I finally got around to installing these sills. It took me about an hour tops.
Wiring harness simply taps into existing wiring located in the cowl areas. It’s
pretty simple and straight forward. By the way, the lettering lights up white
(not blue).

It's a very simple procedure. The kit comes with four T-Tap connectors (2 for
each side). Once the connector is installed, simply plug the wiring harness into
the connector.

I just got my JDM illuminated "lexus" door sills. The instructions that came
with it are in JAPANSESE!!!!!!

Anyhow did anyone else on this forum purchase the JDM illuminated door sills? If
so.....do you have any information as to which wires you tapped into for all 4
doors?
Anyone? Anyone??

I think you can tap it into the door trigger which sends the power to the dome
light. I don't have the door sills so I've never tried it. The hard part is to
find the wires. Use a multimeter.. works wonders

Guys, I found an official lexus illuminated door sills installation guide on a
website and for the life of me I can't find the link again.. But I kept the pdf.
If anyone is looking for the install guide (gives instructions for all 4 door
sills for GS 350/430/460), send me a PM with your email address and I'll forward
it.

Anyone have the instructions for installing the illuminated sills? What wire do
you tap into? This is for a 2006 GS430.

Thanks,

I installed these today, VERY easy DIY. I wish the rears lit up also but I am
okay with them.

I ran the wire through the first Clip that holds the wires together. I just cut
the tab off that secures it and put some double sided tape and this way no holes
where drilled. I just need to find the correct wire to tap into if someone can
provide that PDF that is around let me know what you need or an email.

I will post some pics before I put it together and also pics of the wires and
where they are so we have this for future reference to make it easier.

Thanks,

Okay here are some pics, down to the wiring....

the install process is very easy on these. I got some alcohol swabs and cleaned
the painted area from where the OEM sills that where on the car. They just pop
out with a little bit of force.

These lighted sills have a taped surface so they do not clip into the body of
the car like the factory ones. You will need to remove the (2) white clips and
(1) black clip from the car so that the new sills can be installed. They wont
fit if you do not remove them. They just popped out for me with a small flat
head screwdriver.

Again I cleaned the area with an Alcohol swab for best adhesion. Then just
remove the plastic film for them back and line them up.

The rears do not light up on the ones I have so they just install into place.

The fronts have a wire and I used a hanger and fed the wire through the first
clip (that holds the mass wire cowl) by popping that up. I took a wire snip and
cut half the clip to allow for the wire to pass through. I put doublesided tape
under the clip to help hold it better in place. This way I did not drill any new
holes in the car. here is a Pic:

note this is the clip I ran the wire underneath and the whole to pass the wire
through!

now here is the drive side wire harness(s) that I need to tap into:

and the passenger side:

I am down to the wire tap and need to find the correct plug that the wires are
located in. Will post updated pics with them light up and the wires that I
tapped into.

okay here is the wiring update:
first is the black clip that releases from the bottom so you can see for
reference, its the same on both sides

passenger side. here was my test to light them up. I didnt get the power strips
with mine and Sewell is sending me another set. I did solder the wires and tape
around. but the interesting part that had me was that the BLACK wire from the
sills is actually the positive and the red color wire is the negative.

drive side is the same thing and you can see the pic above. so the black goes to
the Violet wire as they call it and the red wire goes to the black wire!

Enjoy!!

thanks,

etb717 was kind enough to provide me with the pdf instructions. Thanks bud!

However, I checked on Sewell's website because they are good about providing
instructions online. Of course it's on there. Nice work Mike!

went to wire them today and per the instructions I don't have these power
harness? not so sure they are necessary. But I tried them and they don't work???
Have the wire diagram and instructions and both sides are wired up and they
don't light up. Yes I have the lights on for Door. All other lights are
working?? not sure. I will post back as I need to send Darrel a message.
