Château La Chenade is a charming wine estate located in the Lalande-de-Pomerol
appellation of Bordeaux, France. Managed by the talented winemaker Denis
Durantou, who is also known for his work at the esteemed Château L’Eglise Clinet
in Pomerol, La Chenade spans 11 hectares of gravelly soils with clay subsoil.


Jane Anson: 90/100


Bright vivid colour; raspberry fruits on the first attack, shot though with
grilled cedar, salted caramel, liqourice and gentle acidities, unfussy and
enjoyable. 40% new oak, harvest September 13, 40% new oak for ageing.



Neil Martin - Vinous: 89-91/100
The 2023 La Chenade is pure Merlot. Last year contained 20% Cabernet Franc, but
this year, Noëmie Durantou blended it into the Les Cruzelles cuvée. Picked on
September 13 and matured in 40% new oak, this is noticeably reductive on the
nose. It’s quite intense, although perhaps missing amplitude usually bestowed by
the Cabernet Franc. The palate is medium-bodied with a lovely texture and a keen
line of acidity, lightly spiced with gentle grip on the slightly savory finish.
Very satisfying in the mouth, this is a sensual La Chenade that will provide for
delicious early drinking.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown - Wine Independent: 89-91/100
La Chenade 2023 is 100% Merlot and is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of
blueberry pie, juicy raspberries, and Morello cherries erupt from the glass,
leading to hints of graphite, dried herbs, and wafts of tar. The medium to
full-bodied palate is chock-full of juicy black fruits, supported by grainy
tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing long and earthy.
