The PLUS Coalition is an international non-profit organization on a mission “to
enable access to and understanding of information about visual artworks for the
benefit of the Coalition's members and the general public.”

The PLUS Coalition exists at the crossroads between the arts, technology,
preservation and education. Organized by respected artists, associations,
leading companies, standards bodies, scholars and industry experts, the PLUS
Coalition is operated by and for all communities involved in creating,
distributing, using and preserving photographs and other visual artworks.

Coming from more than one hundred countries, these diverse stakeholders have
collaborated on development of the PLUS Registry and a system of industry
standards that make it easier to communicate, understand and manage visual

PLUS President to Serve as Advisor to the Librarian of Congress. In 2022, PLUS
President Jeff Sedlik will serve as an advisor to the Library of Congress on the
modernization of the US Copyright Office.

PLUS Meets with Facebook Leadership September 2021 to discuss metadata
preservation and retention in image files uploaded to Facebook by users.

Google Adopts PLUS Standards to Identify Images Worldwide. In August 2020,
Google launched the Google Licenseable Badge, a new feature designed to
recognize and act on PLUS metadata embedded in image files found by Google on
the web. When a rightsholder adds a web address to the PLUS "Licensor URL" field
in an image file, Google Images will mark that image as "Licenseable" and will
direct the public to the specified web page on the rightsholder's website. In
addition, Google will display the name of the rightsholder, if specified in the
PLUS "Licensor Name" field in the image file. PLUS and Google entered
discussions in 2008 towards adoption of PLUS metadata to identify image
rightsholders and rights information. PLUS thanks Google for adopting the PLUS

PLUS Registry Browser Lookup of PLUS IDs The PLUS Registry allows for lookups of
PLUS IDs written in URL format, such as http://plus-id.org/[your ID here]. To
register and to reserve your PLUS ID and custom PLUS IDs, visit the Registry at
www.PLUS.org.

PLUS and Content Authenticity. PLUS supports the founding of the Content
Authenticity Initiative announced at Adobe MAX in November, 2019. PLUS will
actively participate in the initiative.

PLUS to participate in Copyright Technology Conference in January, 2020. More.

PLUS supports and applauds the work of IPTC's Photo Metadata Working Group on a
new standard for identifying regions within an image. Also IPTC's informative
surveys on the use of photo metadata, and on the preservation of metadata on
social media platforms. PLUS and IPTC have been cooperating for more than 15
years.
