“It was a very engaging day and the presenters gave time to the audience to
interject their experience. Very well paced”

Conference Attendee

“Being in a room with like-minded individuals who are facing the same challenges
is very reassuring and helpful to all come together and forge a path forward!
Love hearing the solutions that work for others and learning things I can bring
back to our organization. Logistically – it’s also amazing to be in a nicely
sized hotel that can accommodate our meeting space but be small enough to run up
to the room etc if you need to. I love the size of the conference, too. Feels
small enough that you get to know folks but large enough that multiple
industries and challenges are shared and it’s a diverse Group.”

“Kevin Finke is wonderful and did such a nice job engaging the audience and
keeping the event flowing. The venue and food also are top-notch. Just an
amazing overall experience.”

WORKSHOP B: FROM CONFLICT TO INNOVATION: 3 STRATEGIES TO TURN DIFFICULT
CONVERSATIONS INTO PRODUCTIVE ENCOUNTERS WITHOUT DESTROYING WORKPLACE
RELATIONSHIPS OR DECIMATING EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

Lynn Ruby, Founder & CEO The Ruby Marketing Agency

Forbes calls conflict avoidance the “silent killer of companies.”

Yet so many of us prefer to avoid awkward interactions because we haven’t
learned how to strategically conduct difficult conversations. And our avoidance
is an expensive strategy for us and for our companies.

One third of employees estimate their inability to speak up in a crucial moment
has cost their organization at least $25,000 per incident.  And 43% estimate
they waste 2 weeks or more obsessing about an unresolved problem.

In this session, Lynn Ruby will share:

 * The astounding data that makes avoiding difficult conversations even more
costly in just the next 12 months.
 * 3 warning signs you’ve got an elephant in the room that’s leading to
   disgruntled and dissatisfied employees.
 * 3 magical words to ask for what you need.

The road-tested framework every company must implement so teams handle difficult
conversations easily and productively, avoiding unnecessary turnover, expense,
and potential lawsuits

STORYTELLING MEETS DEI: HOW COMMUNICATIONS TEAMS CAN FUEL A SENSE OF BELONGING

Julie Asselstine, Global Director of Communications

We know that storytelling is a powerful form of communication that has been used
throughout human history to convey important information, preserve cultural
values, and entertain audiences.

It is also a powerful way to connect us to others, help us make sense of our
experiences, and persuade us to take action.

Maybe your business does not have a DEI program set up, but as a Communications
team, you can pave the way by fueling a sense of belonging. If your business
does have a program—here are some ideas on how you can support the program.

Storytelling is so powerful because:

 * It connects people, bringing them together around shared experiences,
emotions, and values. When we hear a story that resonates with us, we feel a
sense of empathy and understanding for the characters and their struggles.
This emotional connection can help us relate to others on a deeper level and
   foster a sense of community.
 * We are wired to remember stories better than lists of facts or data because
stories engage our brains on multiple levels, weaving together sensory
details, emotions, and plot points. When we hear a story, we are more likely
to remember its message and the information it contains.
 * Stories can help us process difficult emotions by offering a narrative
   framework for our experiences.
 * When we hear a compelling story, we are more likely to be persuaded by its
message than if we were presented with dry facts or statistics.

This is where Storytelling Meets DEI and where the “belonging” rubber hits the
road!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

“Each speaker was intentional on keeping the “strategic” message in their
presentations. Well done”

Conference Attendee
9th Annual Strategic Internal Communications - East

“It was a very engaging day and the presenters gave time to the audience to
interject their experience. Very well paced”

Conference Attendee
9th Annual Strategic Internal Communications - East

“The lunch excursions are very valuable. I appreciated seeing Lisa McClear come
on stage at the beginning of the day to introduce the conference.”
