Langstrath Arts’ aim is to provide access to a variety of artists and
techniques.

The benefit gained from creating something has inspired me to help others by
providing this forum for my work and other aspiring artists to display theirs.

The adventure began towards the end of 2020 supported by Caroline (my wife).
Developing my interest in my art was seen as a part-time solution to provide
that much needed release from life's stresses. I finished work in the Corporate
jungle, but the loss of Caroline in 2021 altered my perspective and it has taken
some time to progress this project.

As well as developing this site, I volunteered at a local school and I run
courses with a Bereavement Group with the aim of helping others through art. You
can read more about these activities on the Workshops page.

The Gallery shows my work, which is predominantly landscapes, but also animals,
birds, figurative and fantasy art produced in a variety of techniques and
materials, I have also created work with the intention of raising funds for
charities such as the Royal British Legion.

I can also recreate a memorable view for you as outlined in the Commission
section of this site.

The Langstrath Arts site will enable an artist to showcase their work in the
Gallery and also provide a potential avenue to sell their work. Therefore, we
seek to inspire and encourage art for all ages in a variety of ways.

Enjoy art...

Andy’s passion for art is matched only by his passion to see art ‘working’ in
the lives of both young and old to do them good. His work in our school is
testament to that. Not only is Andy’s enthusiasm for art infectious, but his way
of ‘doing art’ fosters self-worth and well-being amongst all those taking part.
As children in our school have participated in Andy’s workshops, we have seen
them grow in self-esteem – demonstrating a real sense of achievement and pride,
which bubbles over into other areas of their school lives. Andy’s workshops are
not only art-orientated, but almost therapeutic – an oasis of art-inspired calm
in a busy and often troubled world.

Andy’s passion for art is matched only by his passion to see art ‘working’ in
the lives of both young and old to do them good. His work in our school is
testament to that.

ABOUT ANDY LOWE

I like to capture the magical light on the hillside or the pattern of the clouds
in the sky. I love to paint stormy skies with the rain falling in the distance.

MY SCOTTISH ADVENTURE - THERE AND BACK AGAIN (PART ONE)

I had a dream about travelling around Scotland to sketch and paint the beautiful
landscape. I fulfilled this dream in March 2023.

MY SCOTTISH ADVENTURE (PART TWO)

The first painting stop was Dunnottar Castle which is near Stonehaven on the
East coast just below Aberdeen. I visited this castle briefly in 1999 and always
wanted to come back. It is an unusual castle situated on a headland.
