FAQS

How do I know which coding bootcamp is right for me?

Software Engineering enables you to build dynamic, database-driven applications
and sites. Deep-dive into Python: the #1 programming language in the world right
now.

Data Science prepares you for the exciting world of algorithms, data analytics
and data visualisation. You’ll learn Python and get your start in Machine
Learning and AI. Perfect for those seeking analytical roles.

Web Development teaches JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React and more. These skills
allow you to create and manage the front-end of any website, as well as manage
the back-end and use databases. Creatives often choose Web Development as do
aspiring web entrepreneurs.

I don’t have any background in coding, IT, or computer science. Can I still
apply for these online coding bootcamps?

Sure you can. Many of our students successfully switch careers to programming
after taking our courses, even if they were absolutely new to programming when
starting out. If your aim is to change careers, bootcamps are designed to help
you achieve that from scratch. To enrol with us, you don’t need to have a degree
or prior technical background - all you need is discipline, persistence, and a
willingness to work hard and learn to code.

I don’t have regular access to the Internet. Is this a problem as all of your
courses are online?

Our students don't need access to the Internet everyday. Our course delivery is
designed so that you can download the course material and work on your tasks
offline. Once you are connected to the internet, all the work in your folder
automatically gets synchronised with your mentor. Your mentor will be notified
immediately and will provide timely feedback.

What are the time commitments and expectations from me to participate in a DfE
funded Skills Bootcamp?

To be eligible for a certificate of completion and/or limited university
co-certification, students must fulfil 4 specific criteria.

In order to successfully complete the Skills Bootcamp, there are four important
Criteria to achieve. These criteria are set to ensure a high standard of
achievement and alignment with the requirements of the successful completion of
a Skills Bootcamp.

Criterion 1 - Meeting Initial Requirements

Criterion 1 involves specific achievements within the first two weeks of the
program. To meet this criterion, students need to:

Attend a minimum of 7 - 8 hours per week of any combination of live lectures,
workshops, or 1:1 mentor calls [Called Guided Learning Hours (GLH]) within the
initial two-week period ( for a total minimum of 15 GLH) Successfully complete
the first four assigned tasks by the end of the first 14 days.

Criterion 2 - Demonstrating Mid-Course Progress

Criterion 2 involves demonstrating that meaningful progress has been made
through the successful completion of a set number of tasks within the first half
of the bootcamp. To meet this criterion, students should:

If enrolled in the Software Engineering skills bootcamp, successfully complete
the first 15 assigned tasks by the end of week 8. If enrolled in the Data
Science skills bootcamp, successfully complete the first 14 assigned tasks by
the end of week 8.

Criterion 3 - Demonstrating Post-Course Progress

Criterion 3 involves showcasing students’ progress after completing the course.
To meet this criterion, students should:

Complete the mandatory tasks of your bootcamp before the end date of the core
study period of the bootcamp. This includes completing any resubmissions of
tasks and having them graded as complete before the end date of the study
period. Within 4 weeks of finishing the course, students are required to record
receiving an invitation to an interview. Students are required to document
receiving an invitation to an interview. This time frame is estimated within 20
weeks from the course's commencement. Have achieved at least 112 Guided Learning
Hours by the end of the support date on the Skills Bootcamp.

Meeting Criterion 3 signifies a commendable progression in the academic journey
and positively influences the progress to achieving all four criteria to be
eligible for CoGrammar Certificate of Completion.

Should you meet the requirements of Criterion 1, Criterion 2, and Criterion 3 by
the deadlines as set, you will receive a CoGrammar Letter of Completion.

Criterion 4 - Demonstrating Employability

Criterion 4 revolves around showcasing the progression to employment shortly
after completing the Skills Bootcamp. To meet this criterion, students should:

Record a Final Job Outcome: Within 12 weeks of graduating from the course,
students are required to document achieving a final job outcome, such as
securing an offer of employment, an internship, or a related opportunity.

Should learners meet the requirements of Criterion 1, Criterion 2, Criterion 3,
and Criterion 4 by the deadlines as set, they will receive a CoGrammar
Certificate of Completion.

What are the support mechanisms offered on the bootcamp?

Our Skills Bootcamps consist of:

a) Asynchronous grading and tasks in which you will read, watch and interact
with course content to submit tasks that are graded. You can do this at your own
pace, subject to submission deadlines.

b) Synchronous lectures which are scheduled every 1-2 days during your bootcamp.
It isn't possible for us to find a time that everyone can attend, so you'll also
be able to watch recordings of these.

c) Synchronous 1 on 1 mentor calls where you'll be able to book up to 3 weekly
1:1 synchronous mentor calls each week during the 16 weeks of study time. In
these, you'll be able to discuss and get unstuck on tricky technical issues in
your bootcamp.

d) Synchronous Careers support where you'll be invited to a series of careers
webinars to help you find a new job in tech, which may include sessions hosted
by our hiring partners, career fairs, and consist of sessions diving into how to
build a technical CV and improve your skills at technical interviewing.

e) Asynchronous student success support where our student success team will be
available to support you via email on any issues you have during your studies,
such as issues setting up software and life issues that we understand can get in
the way of completion.

What are the live attendance requirements for me to participate in a DfE funded
Skills Bootcamp?

While our bootcamps are designed to be taken asynchronously, we have the
following requirements from the DfE for synchronous teaching to ensure you are
orientated and on track:

a) In the first two weeks of your bootcamp, you will also be required to attend
- live - any combination of 10 hours worth of 1:1 mentor calls, live lectures,
and onboarding webinars. If you are admitted, we will give you as much notice as
possible of these sessions so you can schedule them accordingly.

b) In further weeks of your bootcamp, you will have more flexibility on the
attendance of these sessions but will be required to attend a total of 112 hours
of a combination of mentor calls, live lectures, career support sessions, and
onboarding webinars in the 16 weeks - 7 hours per week.

Can I take this bootcamp if I am employed full-time?

Yes, the majority of students studying with CoGrammar on Skills Bootcamps and
other bootcamps are working full-time in a non-tech role, with a goal to move
into a tech role.

Please however note the time requirements of the Skills Bootcamp and attendance
requirements. While we do have 1:1 mentor call slots and lectures scheduled for
after UK working hours, some of these fall during working hours UK time and if
you are working full-time you may need to plan your attendance. We will share
schedules for synchronous sessions as early as possible so you can plan ahead.

What is your track record in delivering Skills Bootcamps, and bootcamps in
general?

We are pleased to have started the first cohort of Skills Bootcamps in 2022.
Since then, we have passed a Department for Education audit on all elements of
learning and delivery, and as a result of the quality recorded, the DfE made a
decision to increase the number of Skills Bootcamp places we are able to award.

We have also compiled hundreds of anonymous feedback forms from Skills Bootcamp
students who have studied with us, and as of early 2023 over 80% of these
respondents rate their overall experience on our Skills Bootcamps as 'Good' or
'Excellent'.

How does the association with university partners work?

CoGrammar has partnered with The University of Nottingham Online, to offer a
limited number of co-certified places on our DfE funded Skills Bootcamps.

This means that if you are admitted and based on the date you record an invite
to an interview for a new job in tech (or new work contracts if you are
self-employed), you may be awarded a co-certified certificate of completion from
The University of Nottingham Online.

Please note that you may not be awarded a co-certified certificate, and may just
receive a CoGrammar certificate of completion. Also note that as part of the
course, you'll be guided in applying for new jobs and work contracts and also
introduced to our employer network, so you definitely won't be alone but in fact
strongly supported in this process.

What certificate will I receive?

As mentioned in the question above, you will receive either a CoGrammar
certificate of completion or a co-certified and co-branded CoGrammar +
university co-certificate.

To be eligible for a certificate, you will be required to complete all criteria
as outlined and may be required to also record other data that we are required
to report to the DfE.

Can I be disenrolled from the Bootcamp?

Yes, if you do not keep up with progression or breach our Code of Conduct (which
relates to plagiarism as well as to adhering to non-abusive behaviour towards
our staff or other students, which will be shared with you in full if you
receive an offer) you may be disenrolled from the Bootcamp. In cases of
disenrollment, we are required to report this to the DfE.

How do your Skills Bootcamps differ from your other bootcamps?

We are required by the DFE to deliver teaching for a maximum of 16 weeks. As
such, our Skills Bootcamps cover less content and are shorter in duration than
our other bootcamps, which you may find more suitable.

We will not be able to deliver content and teach you under Skills Bootcamp
funding that is not within the Skills Bootcamp itself, though there may be
opportunities for you to access further bootcamps, teaching, and university
co-certification at a discount to our commercial prices. You will not be charged
for any element of a Skills Bootcamp.

guaranteed.
