THE LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA. AND A SAVE THE CHILDREN ACTION NETWORK FORUM.
REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR GOVERNOR, CHUCK MORSE, SAYS HIS VIEW ON STATE POLICY TO
HELP KIDS STARTS WITH HIS OWN EXPERIENCE GROWING UP AS THE CHILD OF A SINGLE
MOTHER. WE NEVER KNEW WHAT A PIZZA WAS. WE HAD A PIECE OF BREAD WITH SAUCE AND
CHEESE ON IT. YOU KNOW, SHE WOULD PLUCK TURKEYS TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY TO PUT
PRESENTS UNDER THE TREE. AS SENATE PRESIDENT, OVER MOST OF THE LAST DECADE,
MORSE PLAYED A KEY ROLE IN SETTING THE STATE’S COURSE IF ELECTED GOVERNOR, HE
SAYS HE’LL PRIORITIZE YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH. AS WE GROW HAMPSTEAD HOSPITAL, LET’S
GROW IT RIGHT. WE KNOW THERE’S A LOT OF YOUNG PEOPLE THAT NEED SERVICES, AND WE
HAVE TO HAVE A PLACE FOR THEM TO GO. A WAITING LIST IN A HOSPITAL IS NOT A PLACE
TO GO. SO I MEAN, AS SENATE PRESIDENT, I WAS GETTING THOSE CALLS A LOT AND I WAS
GETTING THEM FROM RICH AND POOR FAMILIES. MORSE CONTENDS. YOUTH, MARIJUANA AND
OTHER DRUG USE PLAYS A ROLE IN THOSE MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES. HE BELIEVES CREATING
ROBUST AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS CAN BE A DETERRENT. BUT I DO THINK THAT TIME PERIOD
FROM 3 TO 5 IN THE AFTERNOON WITH LATCHKEY KIDS IS, UM, IS IS AN ISSUE. AND I
THINK WE IT’S PART OF WHER
