IN THIS ISSUE

The third issue of volume 15 of the American Journal of Play is a special themed
issue focused on the work and legacy of Russian psychiatrist Lev S. Vygotsky
(1896-1934). It features an interview with guest editors and eminent Vygotsky
scholars Elena Bodrova and Deborah J. Leong, who discuss why Vygotsky’s play
research and theories are still vital today. The issue also includes articles
that explore private speech and sociodramatic play, fake play in preschools,
conceptual PlayWorlds in early childhood classrooms, and a framework for
observing and teaching bilingual and English-only players.
