KOEI-KAN HISTORY

Here are some Koei-Kan highlights from the last 50 years.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Joanne (Ligosh) Scordilis taught at Montclair State College in 1975. She was the
first Koei-Kan black belt in the USA and competed nationally and
internationally.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The name Koei-Kan was suggested to the founder of the system, Onishi Eizo
(Kancho Sensei) by his mentor, the late Master Toyama Kanken. The phrase,
"Prosper with happiness towards the future," has often been used to describe its
meaning.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sensei Miller-Feinstein Lee Ann was the youngest female Koei-Kan Dojo Cho at 18
years old. She was the first female in Koei-Kan to achieve the rank of Sandan
and is currently the highest ranking female back belt in the Koei-Kan system
Worldwide.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sensei Ayla Quaglio is the first USA female black belt to travel to Japan and
train directly with Kancho Onishi. She is CURRENTLY the youngest female Koei-Kan
Dojo Cho in the USA.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

O Sensei Edward Kaloudis (originally from Greece) brought Koei-Kan to the US
from Japan. He began teaching it in New York City while a student at NYU in
1956. He later established his headquarters in New Jersey.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

In 1972 O Sensei Brian Frost captured the All-Japan Koei-Kan Championship held
in the Kamata Sports Stadium in Tokyo. He competed, instructed and demonstrated
worldwide.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Koei-Kan created an insatiable desire to learn, not just in the martial arts,
but throughout all of life's endeavors. It has given me the immense joy that
comes from passing these traits and benefits - along with that undying spirit -
on to so many."
