Fran Weiss is an Associate Clinical Professor at Icahn School of Medicine at
Mount Sinai in the Departments of Psychiatry and Environmental Medicine & Public
Health.

She is well known for her pioneering work connecting early attachment
derailments and trauma with dysregulated eating, obesity, and body image issues.
Central to her current work is the exploration of early life developmental
trauma and how this frequently plays out in the underpinnings of a multitude of
adult- and young adult- presenting concerns: self-sabotage, self-hate, shame,
relationship conundrums, and self-regulation struggles.

A New York State Licensed Psychotherapist, Certified Group Psychotherapist, and
Board Certified Diplomate, Fran has also been acting as an effective "change
agent" for her private patient population for decades. She specializes in
working with those struggling with ♦ relationship and attachment issues,
♦ anxiety issues and trauma, ♦ eating dysregulation problems, ♦ diabetes,
♦ false starts in finding a life partner, ♦ concern about professional career
and future direction, ♦ balancing fast track with family, ♦ executive stress,
♦ women's issues, and ♦ life transitional changes and losses.

Regarded as one of the top specialists in eating disorders, weight regulation
and body image in the country, Fran is the creator of B.I.T.E. The Body Image
Transformation Experience® Workshop; has been for three decades the Senior
Psychotherapy Consultant to the New York Nutrition and Obesity Research Center
at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in affiliation with Columbia University,
College of Physicians & Surgeons, and Weill Cornell Medical College in
Manhattan; trains, teaches, and runs workshops nationally on the relationship
between developmental trauma, early attachment issues, and dysregulated eating
leading to obesity in adults; and was recently invited, on behalf of the
American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), to partipate in the American
Psychiatric Association's upcoming review of their Guidelnes for Eating
Disorders.

She is the Resource Specialist for the Center for Sleep Medicine at New
York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center with a focus on trauma,
stress and stress reduction strategies, mindfulness skills, sensorimotor
therapy, and eating disorders.

As an expert in group therapy, she is part of the training program at Icahn
School of Medicine for psychiatry residents where she co-leads process groups of
residents, focusing on group and individual dynamics and interpersonal
communication.

On the Board of Directors of the International Board for Certification of Group
Psychotherapists, American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), Fran chairs
its Standards Committee, and in November of 2021 was named a Fellow of AGPA by
its Board of Directors.

Fran's client population is composed of high-functioning men and women who have
attained professional direction and financial stability; those with great
potential still struggling to achieve professional and financial goals; and
those who are just starting their careers and are encountering road blocks.

Looking at what is not working for you may take courage.  To that end Fran
partners with you to learn to listen to and decode the meaning of your internal
road blocks and to develop the skills necessary to refocus your energies in a
new direction that makes sense to you and that you can be proud of.
