The Qur’an, the Hadith, and the history of Islamic civilization offer many examples of kindness, mercy, and compassion for animals. Because of Westernized factory-farming methods that are used in many parts of the world, animals suffer hideously in the industries that kill them to produce meat, milk, and eggs. These products not only bring pain and suffering to the animals themselves, they also are implicated in a variety of human diseases, including cancer, heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. The intensive production of animals for food is also extremely damaging to the environment. > "There is not an animal that lives on the earth, nor a being that flies on its > wings, but they form communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the > Book, and they all shall be gathered to their Lord in the end" - Al-Qur'an, > 6:38 > "Whoever is kind to the creatures of God, is kind to himself." - The Prophet > Muhammad (pbuh), narrated by Abdallah bin Amru in Bukhari and Muslim > collections Hindi Film Star Donates Vegan Biryani to 1,000 People With Help From PETA India ©iStock.com/themacx Fatwas on Vegetarianism Joanne McArthur/We Animals Excerpts From the Islamic Teachings on Animal Welfare PETA India and Local Activists Rescue Seven Camels from Sacrifice Pledge to Celebrate a Cruelty-Free Eid al-Adha Why I’m Vegan on Eid and Every Other Day ANIMALS AND ISLAM IN THE NEWS * Veganised Eid Feast * Woke People and Qalb-e-Saleem * India and Islam Are Vegan Strong * On Bakrid, some will help poor instead of sacrificing animal .. * This Eid, Bhopal artisans introduce ‘eco-friendly bakri’ to ensure goats don’t get slaughtered * How Veganism Is Spreading in the Arab World * A Vegan Eid * Dubai Chocolatiers Launch Vegan Chocolate-Covered Dates for Ramadan * A Saudi Bill of Rights for Animals * The Saudi Government Starts an Animal-Welfare Society * An Imam in Istanbul Has Opened Up His Mosque as a Warm Home to the City’s Stray Cats * Order a Free Vegan Starter Kit * International Vegetarian Union * The Humane Center for Animal Welfare (Jordan) * Hayawan.org * Animal Interfaith Alliance * Privacy Policy * Contest Terms and Conditions * Texting Terms and Conditions * Terms of Use * Report Website Abuse * Disclaimer PETA is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation.
