SNMMI/LBCA Announce $100,000 Research Grant

In honor of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Week and Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
SNMMI and the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance are excited to announce a $100,000
Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Imaging Research Grant as part of the new SNMMI Mars

Novel PET Imaging Agent Detects Earliest Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease

A new highly selective PET imaging agent can detect the presence of
overexpressed monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) in cognitively unimpaired individuals
with high beta amyloid, according to new research published in the October issue
of JNM.

 * October 25, 2022 — CTN: Enabling Accurate Quantitative PET/CT and SPECT/CT
   Imaging
   Quantitative measurements have long been a strength of nuclear medicine.
   There is renewed urgency for accurate, reproducible, and standardized
   measurements in routine clinical practice as the role of diagnostic and
   therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in clinical trials and routine clinical care
   grows. The CTN continues to be involved in this space, with several active
   projects to address this need. (SNMMI News)

   $100,000 Research Grant
   SNMMI announces a new $100,000 grant to fund research on nuclear medicine
   imaging and treatments for lobular beast cancer. The grant is sponsored by

 * September 28, 2022 — New PET Tracer Shows Promise for uPAR-Targeted Therapy
   of Neuroendocrine Neoplasms
   A novel PET radiotracer can accurately assess the presence of a biomarker
   that indicates the level of tumor aggressiveness in neuroendocrine neoplasms,
   according to research published in September JNM, and may also serve as a
   potential target for peptide radionuclide therapy (PRRT) for NEN patients.

 * September 20, 2022 — TerraPower Announces Funding Raised for Nuclear
   Technologies
   TerraPower, a nuclear innovation company founded by Bill Gates, announced a
   $750 million funding raise co-led by Gates and SK, a large South Korean
   conglomerate that is one of South Korea’s largest energy providers. According
   to a press release from TerraPower, this effort will enhance the company’s
   “groundbreaking work in advanced nuclear energy technologies and nuclear
   medicine.” (SNMMI News)
