SHORT FORECAST


NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, WAIKATO, COROMANDEL, BAY OF PLENTY

Periods of rain, heavy at times with thunderstorms possible. Easing to isolated
showers in the morning. Northerly gale in exposed places at first.


WAITOMO TO KAPITI, ALSO THE CENTRAL HIGH COUNTRY

Showers some heavy and possibly thundery, easing from late morning, but
returning at night.


GISBORNE, HAWKE'S BAY, WAIRARAPA, WELLINGTON

Showers, possibly heavy, clearing in the morning, then late rain for Wellington
and Wairarapa. Northwest gales.


NELSON, MARLBOROUGH

Early showers then fine, but rain developing in the evening.


BULLER, WESTLAND, FIORDLAND

Showers, some heavy and possibly thundery.


CANTERBURY

Partly cloudy. Showers developing about the High Country in the afternoon, a few
spreading elsewhere in the evening.


OTAGO, SOUTHLAND

Scattered showers from late morning, some heavy with thunderstorms possible in
the afternoon and evening.


CHATHAM ISLANDS

Rain, possibly heavy, clearing at night.

THURSDAY

Showers for most, though fine at first for Marlborough and Canterbury.


FRIDAY

North Island: Showers, becoming isolated later in the day with long fine spells
developing. South Island: Isolated showers, more widespread for Buller and
Southland for a time in the morning. Rain developing in Fiordland late.


SATURDAY

Rain or showers for most, possibly heavy, but fine at first in the east of the
country.


CHATHAM ISLANDS

Partly cloudy to start on Thursday with northwesterlies, then rain developing in
the afternoon. Periods of rain on Friday with northwesterlies changing strong
southwest. Rain eases to a few showers early Saturday with fine breaks
developing and southwesterlies easing.
