Seal and Metal Products of Latin America (SMPLA) was founded over twenty years
ago to provide cost-effective sealing solutions to southern Mexico, as well as
Europe and South America. Since our founding, we have grown to employ over 200
people. In addition to the design skills of our own staff, SMPLA draws on the
design expertise of our sister company, Stein Seal Company, a well-known
American designer of seals for the industrial and aerospace markets.



SMPLA personnel are trained to recondition seals in the industrial market and
return them to serviceable condition. If necessary, new components can be
manufactured from similar materials so that the performance of the original
product can be doubled and at much lower costs than the OEM would charge. Using
state-of-the-art computer controlled measuring equipment, SMPLA is able to
reverse engineer assembled seals, thereby saving our customers money and
improving delivery times.

Our staff is skilled in manufacturing using Lean Manufacturing principles such
as cellular manufacturing and 5S principles. Our manufacturing area includes
state-of-the-art CNC machines such as lathe-mills, bore grinders, universal
cylindrical grinders, Blanchard grinders, and lapping machines. Part diameters
ranging from 2” to 16” (50mm to 400mm) are typical of our machined products,
although we have the ability to manually machine parts up to 54” (1350mm) in
diameter. Typical milling capacities are up to 20″ by 40″ (500mm to 1000mm)
plates. We have experience machining most standard and exotic materials.

The SMPLA manufacturing plant is 100% heated in a controlled manner to prevent
dimensional changes due to the thermal expansion coefficients of the materials.
With a total of over 85.000 square feet (8.500 square meters) of build space and
over 100 CNC machines, we have ample space to manufacture your parts. Parts are
inspected using state-of-the-art Zeiss coordinate measuring machines. We also
have our own heat treatment furnaces and are certified to perform magnetic
particle and liquid penetrant inspections by NADCAP, an aerospace accreditation
program.

Products supplied by SMPLA are manufactured to the highest standards and our
systems are certified to ISO9001-2015 and AS9102D. Our highly trained staff is
bilingual and eager to help you with your next project.
