In June 2022, the precedent set to protect women’s rights to an abortion was
abolished by the overturning of Roe v. Wade. 

This was a victory for those who support the anti-abortion agenda and argue that
life begins at conception. The overturning created limitations for those
pursuing reproductive healthcare in 20 states. Legislation varied from
near-total abortion bans to set time-based limits. 




This has forced women to leave their homes or to take dangerous steps to
complete an abortion. 





Travel is inaccessible for so many due to cost, and women from low-income
communities are experiencing an increased need for safe and accessible
abortions.



Abortions are necessary and important healthcare procedures that should be
accessible to all women despite political beliefs. 

The public tends to believe that abortions are elective procedures when someone
doesn’t want to carry a child to term, but for many, the choice to receive an
abortion is based on numerous factors, such as health and the situation
surrounding the conception. 

More than 64,000 pregnancies have resulted from rape since the overturnment of
Roe v. Wade in 2022. 

Each number is a story. Someone who experiences immeasurable trauma is forced to
carry a physical reminder of such trauma for nine months due to legislation out
of their control. 




This is an epidemic that’s disproportionately impacting women from marginalized
communities. 





The overturning of Roe v. Wade is a direct restriction of female rights, and it
also creates a dangerous environment for children. Children who were born out of
rape are more likely to experience physical inhibitions and abuse in their
lifetime.

These children may be protected in utero but not in the real world. They are
forced to be children of parents who are not prepared to parent them, and for
many, they’re a permanent, physical reminder of what their parents faced. 

Abortions are lifesaving procedures for women across all walks of life. Health
conditions such as ectopic pregnancies can result in life-threatening
complications. 

Pregnancy complications don’t discriminate, they impact women of all ages and
women who are already mothers. However, many of these complications require
treatment including pregnancy termination.



The decline in access to necessary reproductive health care is causing people to
lose their mothers, daughters and sisters. 

People want to support the lives of the unborn while diminishing the mothers
until it impacts them. Until people experience the loss associated with a
decline in reproductive health care, they’ll refuse to acknowledge the emotional
pain and damage that it causes. 

Abortion is health care, and the longer that we pretend it’s not, the more lives
will be destroyed.
