This is a federal holiday that is observed on the third Monday of February. Originally this holiday was known as “Washington's Birthday” in honor of the first President George Washington. You cannot become the president of the United States if you do not have American citizenship. You have to prove that both or one of your parents is a natural-born American. Turn 35 According to the constitution, you cannot become the president of the United States unless you turn 35. Most men entering the oval office are above 55. Live In the United States For 14 Consecutive Year There is a residency requirement according to article 2 of the constitution. You have to be living in the United States of America for 14 consecutive years to be eligible to run for president ship. It should also be kept in mind that you should not have participated in any rebellions against the state in your previous years. Get Education Education is very important if you want to become the president of the United States. You will have to get a lot of education. Although there are no restrictions or laws regarding any specific field of education, however, most of the previous presidents had degrees in law, political science, economics, sociology, and other such fields. Seek A Political Career This is also not a rigid requirement. However, this can help you a lot. Most of the presidents started with smaller political careers. You can run for mayor, governor, or senator to gain the experience of political life. Register For FEC You will have to register for federal election commission if you want to run for elections any time soon. Raise Money You will have to raise money as the presidential campaigns require a great deal of money. You will have to contact donors or arrange fundraising strategies. Appeal To Average Americans To become the president, you will have to impress the voters. You will have to appeal to the average Americans that you are worthy of their vote. Run In General Elections You will have to run in the general elections to gain votes from the public.
