workers have the power to ensure that we are treated equitably and that all of
us are safe in our workplace.

 * WHAT IS A UNION?

   A union is an organization of workers formed to maintain or improve the
   conditions of their employment and to represent the members’ interests with
   respect to wages and working conditions. By forming a union, workers gain
   power to collectively bargain with their employer and can democratically
   determine the terms of their contract with their employer.

   This is an exciting time for unions in higher education - student workers
   across the county are are winning raises, better benefits, and protection
   from harassment, discrimination, and unfair termination through their unions!

 * WHAT IS WUGWU?

   The WashU Undergraduate and Graduate Workers’ Union is an organization made
   up of and led by student workers from across the Washington University in St.
   Louis. Through WUGWU, we are working together to fight for a safer, fairer
   WashU.

   At present, the University refuses to recognize us. Winning recognition as a
   union will let student workers negotiate directly with WashU for higher
   wages, better health care, and more. Even without recognition, WUGWU has
   helped win a $15 minimum wage at WashU and year-round pay for many graduate
   workers. Learn more about WUGWU here:
