GALAXY CLUSTERS & RADIO RELICS II

Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian

WELCOME TO THE GALAXY CLUSTERS & RADIO RELICS II MEETING WEBSITE!

Building on the success of our inaugural event in Tautenburg, Germany in 2021,
the second Galaxy Clusters and Radio Relics Meeting is scheduled for September
3-6, 2024, at the Center for Astrophysics, Harvard & Smithsonian in Cambridge,
MA.

This four-day event aims to cultivate a collaborative atmosphere among
astrophysicists and plasma physicists, with a focus on both observational and
simulation-based research. Our goal is to foster comprehensive discussions about
the latest developments and future directions in the study of galaxy clusters
and radio relics. The event will feature insightful talks and collaborative
discussions, highlighting our current understanding of new radio observations
from LOFAR and SKA precursor telescopes (e.g., MeerKAT, ASKAP), as well as X-ray
observations from Chandra and the recently launched XRISM satellite.
Additionally, we will delve into the latest advancements in numerical
simulations, which are growing in complexity and introducing innovative hybrid
models for understanding cosmic ray evolution. Recognizing the importance of
collaboration between observers and simulators, one of our key objectives is to
establish a robust network among simulators and observers.

The meeting will be organized mainly in a in-person format but with an option
for remote participation (with a Zoom connection option).

Registration for both in-person and Zoom-participation will be free of
charge..The registration deadline is set for 12:00 pm EST on Thursday, February
29, 2024.

We look forward to welcoming you in Cambridge!
