INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADMISSION



An international student may apply for Gateway, Undergraduate, or Graduate
admission, whichever is most appropriate for his/her intended program at Dallas
International. Scroll to the bottom of each Admissions page to find a numbered
checklist for next steps for admission. Information on Dallas International’s
English language proficiency requirements and foreign academic credential
requirements can be found in these checklists.

 

Please apply at least 6 months before your intended date of entry. Click here to

1. DO I NEED A VISA?

Applicants with legal permanent resident status in the U.S. and those who are in
the U.S. on a non-immigrant work visa must provide proof of current immigration
status before applying for admission. For more information and to apply, click
here.

 

If you are unsure whether you will need a student visa, read through the
introductory information at
https://visaguide.world/us-visa/nonimmigrant/study-exchange-visas/f1/. If you
still have questions, please contact the International Student Center office at
Dallas International at +1-972-708-7340 extension 2478 or isc@diu.edu.

2. APPLY

Decide which admission status (Gateway, Undergraduate, or Graduate) is right for
you and complete the appropriate application here. Be sure to view and follow
all of the instructions on the application page.

For non-native speakers of English, part of the application process will include
proof of English language proficiency. Information about the English language
proficiency requirement can be found here.

3. SUBMIT INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FORMS

The U.S. government requires additional forms for international students
classified as non-immigrant students.

Please submit the following:

 1. Copy of the identification page of your passport
 2. Supplement to Application for an International Student

All forms should be submitted to the International Student Office (ISC) at
Dallas International. Forms may be submitted by email, fax, or mail.

4. SUBMIT FINANCIAL VERIFICATION

International students must verify their ability to cover all reasonable
expenses associated with living and studying at Dallas International University.

 1. The International Student Coordinator will provide the student with a
    reasonable estimate of expected tuition and fees; expected costs of living
    for themself and for any dependents who will accompany them to the U.S..
 2. The Student will provide proof of funds/income available throughout his
    intended program and/or visa period.
    * Bank statements, “cash on hand” (3 recent, consecutive months checking or
      at least two consecutive savings/other) from student
    * Ongoing income (pay stub, annual pay stmt, or enumeration of regular,
      periodic income substantiated by submitted bank statement)
    * Letter of support from sponsoring organization may stand alone (without
      other proof)
      1. Should include specific amount(s) pledged
      2. Should include time period for which pledge is intended
    * Award letter for any Scholarship funds or grant money (including DIU!)
      1. Should include the amount of scholarship or grant awarded
      2. Should include time period for which scholarship or award was given
    * Certificate of Sponsorship (See instructions below.)
      1. Required for anyone else who intends to provide funding to the student
      2. Certificate of Sponsorship should be accompanied by proof:
         * 3 recent, consecutive months checking or at least two consecutive
           savings/other bank statements, or
         * official minutes from board or committee meeting where decision to
           provide ____ level of support was decided, or
         * financial statement from the organization’s treasurer or other
           officer showing adequate finances are available for org to provide
           stated level of support.
 3. CERTIFICATE OF SPONSORSHIP (proof of funding) should be filled out for each
    individual who plans to fund at least part of student’s studies and living
    expenses while you are at DIU
    * Sponsor’s Statement: The individual sponsor or a designated officer of the
      sponsoring organization fills in and signs Section A. and attaches proof
      of intent and ability to provide the promised funds to you. Typical
      verification (proof) includes official letters, treasurer’s reports, and
      bank statements.
    * Bank or Organization Statement: This section does not need to be filled
      in–unless DIU specifically requests it for a particular individual/funding
      source.
    * Recipient’s Statement: You fill in and sign Section C.
 4. Final Steps(collecting documents):
    * Be sure any forms are completely filled out and signed, and that all
      necessary proof documents have been collected.
    * Be sure to keep copies of all completed forms and proof documents for your
      records.
    * Email forms and proof documents to isc@diu.edu.

5. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE

International students with a DIU-sponsored visa are required to carry health
insurance for themselves and for their immediate families during their time of
study at DIU and must provide proof of coverage before arriving in the United
States. See our International Student Health Insurance page for more
information.

should identify themselves as international students when signing up for a
U.S.-based health insurance policy online.
