HOW CAN WE HELP?

ARE YOU HOMELESS?

You might be considered homeless if you are:

 * Sleeping rough on the streets or other public spaces
 * Squatting in a disused house or building
 * Living in a tent, caravan or car
 * Couch surfing – staying with a friend or family but not a resident or don’t
   have your own room
 * Staying in crisis accommodation

ARE YOU AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS?

You might be considered at risk of homelessness if:

 * It is not safe for you at home
 * You have been or might soon be kicked out of home
 * You are in danger of being evicted from your home

HOW CAN WE HELP?

Crisis Accommodation
Safe secure emergency accommodation if you are homeless along with information
and support.

Finding Housing
We will assist and support you in the process of securing your own long term,
affordable housing.

Transitional Housing
Medium-term transitional housing that provides affordable accommodation until
longer-term housing is secured.

Supportive Housing
Support to maintain and sustain independent accommodation. Staff are trained to
deliver the Tenancy Skills Institute – Dollars and Sense program.

Study or work
We can help you stay in school, enrol in a course, or find a job.

Funded by Queensland Government Department of Housing and Public Works

Kalyan Youth Service provides crisis, transitional accommodation and support to
young people 16 – 25 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Mackay
and the surrounding region.

We can provide shelter and the support you need to live comfortably,
move into housing, and move on with your life.

Kalyan Youth Service is a not-for-profit community organisation supporting young
people in the Mackay region since 1985. Managed by a committee of local
volunteers and a team of staff supporting young people who are homeless or at
risk of homelessness and staying in Kalyan’s crisis or transitional
accommodation.
