2022 EEO-1 COMPONENT 1 DATA COLLECTION

The 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection will open on Tuesday, October 31,
2023. The EEO-1 online Filer Support Message Center (i.e., filer help desk) will
also be available beginning Tuesday, October 31, 2023, to assist filers with any
inquiries they may have regarding the 2022 collection. The deadline to file the
2022 EEO-1 Component 1 report is Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

The 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet is now available at
https://eeocdata.org/pdfs/2022_EEO_1_Component_1_Instruction_Booklet.pdf. The
2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data File Upload Specifications are now available at

9/13/2023 - 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data File Upload Specifications Now Available



The 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data File Upload Specifications are now available at
https://eeocdata.org/pdfs/2022_EEO_1_Component_1_Data_File_Upload_Specifications.pdf.


The EEOC requires electronic submission of EEO-1 Component 1 report(s) through a
web-based data collection application (i.e., portal) referred to as the EEO-1
Component 1 Online Filing System (OFS). Filers must submit workforce demographic
data electronically in the web-based portal (i.e., OFS) through either (1)
manual data entry or (2) data file upload. The “manual data entry” option
requires directly entering workforce demographic data into the OFS. The “data
file upload” option requires uploading a data file using the 2022 EEO-1
Component 1 Data File Upload Specifications .


Filers choosing the “data file upload” option should read the newly updated 2022
EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet prior to and in conjunction with using the
2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data File Upload Specifications (i.e., “Data File Upload
Specifications”). Filers must ensure they are complying with the EEOC’s
substantive filing requirements detailed in the Instruction Booklet and should
not refer solely to the “Data File Upload Specifications” to complete their
required 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 filing. The 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction
Booklet may be found on the EEOC’s dedicated EEO-1 Component 1 website at
https://www.eeocdata.org/pdfs/2022_EEO_1_Component_1_Instruction_Booklet.pdf.

9/6/2023 - 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet Now Available



The 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet is now available at

As part of its ongoing modernization efforts and in response to feedback from
filers in prior collections, the EEOC’s Office of Enterprise Data and Analytics
(OEDA) has redesigned the EEO-1 Component 1 Instruction Booklet to better meet
the needs of filers. The Instruction Booklet consolidates existing filer-support
materials, including frequently asked questions (FAQs) and fact sheets, into a
single resource for filers and provides additional information to clarify
reporting requirements. Like the dedicated EEO-1 Component 1 website launched by
the EEOC in 2021, the updated Instruction Booklet will serve as a
“one-stop-shop” containing important information for new and returning filers.

6/29/2023 and 7/13/2023 - 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collection Notice:



The EEOC is currently completing a mandatory, three-year renewal of the EEO-1
Component 1 data collection by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under
the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA). Accordingly, the EEOC has updated the
tentative opening of the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection to the Fall of
2023. All updates about the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection, including
the final opening date and opening of the Filer Support Message Center, will be
posted to www.eeocdata.org/eeo1 as they become available.


As discussed in the 60-day and 30-day PRA Notices published in the Federal
Register on November 10, 2022, and May 2, 2023, respectively, the EEOC’s PRA
submission for the EEO-1 Component 1 does not change the types of demographic
workforce data historically collected by the EEO-1 (i.e., employee data by job
category and sex and race or ethnicity). Rather, as part of this routine
three-year clearance for Component 1 under the PRA, the EEOC seeks OMB approval
of measures that streamline and modernize how the current EEO-1 Component 1
workforce demographic data are collected from employers.

1/20/2023 - 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collection Notice:



The 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collection is tentatively scheduled to open in
Fall of 2023. Updates regarding the 2022 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collection,
including the opening date, will be posted to www.eeocdata.org/eeo1 as they
become available.
