October 22, 2024 at Durham County Stadium * Exhibitor Setup: 6:30am - 8:45am * Student Group 1: 9:15am - 11:00am * Student Group 2: 11:30am - 1:15pm * Exhibitor Breakdown: 1:15pm – 3:30pm About Acceler8 Acceler8 is the career exploration day for 8th graders in Durham Public Schools. Local employers showcase their industry with engaging information sessions and hands-on activities. Students circulate through employer booths and meet employees to learn more about their day-to-day roles and responsibilities. The event broadens students' perspectives on the world of work and allows them to explore future career opportunities. With your help, Acceler8 is a stepping stone to ensure all DPS students are ready for any post-secondary opportunity path they choose. Embarking on a Career Journey In North Carolina, students begin crafting their career journey in middle school — exposure to careers and the shaping of their interests affect the courses they choose in high school and beyond. Acceler8 provides an immersive career exploration experience where students move through industry sectors engaging in brief, hands-on activities. * Business, Management & Technology * Industrial & Engineering Technology * Arts, AV & Communication * Health and Life Sciences * Natural Resources and Agriculture * Human Services Your generous donations allow Acceler8 to: * Offer the Acceler8 experience to public school students free of charge * Rent the event site to host 100+ businesses * Design, print, and purchase 3500+ student and volunteer tshirts * Produce and purchase 2400+ student career guides * Provide lunch for exhibitors and volunteers on event day Watch the video to see what it's all about: Join us October 22, 2024!
