COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A SOBER HOUSE?

A sober house (also called sober living) is a group home for recovering
alcoholics and addicts.

HOW DO SOBER HOUSES WORK?

A sober living home operates as a bridge between an inpatient facility and the
“real world” and can help with the adjustment from rehab back to daily life.

WHAT ARE THE RULES OF THE HORIZON HOUSE?

First and foremost, residents are expected to stay clean.

In addition:

 * Attend (3) 12 step meetings each week.
 * Spend a minimum of 32 hours each week working, in school, or volunteering.
 * Abide by house rules, (ie curfew, assigned cleaning, etc.)
 * Attend weekly house meetings.
 * Needs at least 30 days of sobriety before admittance
 * $350  Program Deposit

HOW DO I GET INTO THE HORIZON HOUSE?

Complete our online application, and a member of our staff will reach out after
review.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SOBER HOUSE AND A HALFWAY HOUSE?

While sober living homes and halfway houses are similar in the purpose they
serve, one of the main differences is that halfway homes are often designated
for people who are coming out of incarceration and who underwent a drug
treatment program during their incarceration and are often state-run.

Another difference (and benefit) is that sober living homes don’t specify a time
limit for residency.
