CHILDREN AGED 6 MONTHS TO UNDER 5 YEARS

COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for children aged 6 months to under 5 years
who are at a higher risk of developing severe illness from COVID-19. More

1800 020 080. Choose option 8 for free interpreting help.

SMS ‘Hey EVA’ to the Easy Vaccine Access team on 0481 611 382. You will get a
call back to help book an appointment. EVA is available every day from 7am to
10pm (AEST) with free interpreting.

BOOSTERS

New advice about 2023 booster doses was announced in February. More information

The preferred vaccines for boosters are:

 * Pfizer Bivalent BA.4-5 (12 years +)
 * Pfizer Bivalent BA.1 (18 years +)
 * Moderna Bivalent BA.1 (18 years +)
 * Pfizer (12 years +)
 * Pfizer (5-11 years).

Novavax (for ages 12+) and AstraZeneca (for ages 18+) can be used for boosters
in some circumstances. Please contact a healthcare professional for advice.

IMMUNOCOMPROMISED PEOPLE

ATAGI recommends an additional primary dose for people aged 6 months and older
who are severely immunocompromised.

The preferred vaccines for additional primary doses are:

 * Moderna (for ages 6 months to 5 years)
 * Pfizer (for ages 6 months and older)
 * Novavax (for ages 12 years and older).

Bivalent vaccines are not recommended for primary course doses.

AstraZeneca (for ages 18+) can be used for additional primary doses in some
circumstances. Please contact a healthcare professional for advice.

4TH DOSES

4th doses are recommended for people who are:

 * aged 50 years or older
 * aged 16 to 49 and are a resident of an aged care or disability care facility
 * aged 16 to 49 and are severely immunocompromised - link opens in a new window
   (this will be their 5th dose)
 * aged 16 to 49 and have disability with significant or complex health needs
 * aged 16 to 49 and have complex health needs and/or multiple comorbidities
   that increase the risk of severe COVID-19.

People aged 30 to 49 can receive a 4th dose, however the benefit for people in
this age group is less certain.

4th doses are recommended 3 months after a booster.

You should wait 3 months after testing positive for COVID-19 to get a 4th dose.

The preferred vaccines for 4th doses are:

 * Moderna (for ages 18+)
 * Pfizer (for ages 16+)

Novavax (for ages 12+) and AstraZeneca (for ages 18+) can be used for 4th doses
