DESCRIPTION

The Department of Physical Therapy at NYU Steinhardt’s School of Culture,
Education, and Human Development invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position at the Assistant Professor level, with the earliest start date of
September 1, 2024. This search focuses on the area of rehabilitation engineering
and is part of the Health Equity in Rehabilitation Science & Engineering cluster
hire at NYU, a strategic effort to invest in research and development of
health-related technologies. The aim of the Health Equity faculty cluster is to
bring together experts across engineering and rehabilitation science to develop
new, cutting-edge solutions to some of the most pressing health problems faced

The position is in the Department of Physical Therapy with a mission to provide
innovative physical therapy education that assures currency with the changing
health-care environment. Our five program offerings include: 1) Entry-level
doctor of physical therapy (DPT) degree, 2) Clinical residency in orthopedic
physical therapy, 3) DPT for practicing physical therapists, 4)
research-intensive PhD, 5) MA with a concentration in pathokinesiology. The
Department will celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2027 and has a long
history of leadership and inclusion. We strive to create the most intellectually

Faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy have a robust portfolio of
extramural funding and  wide-ranging collaborations with NYU Langone Medical
Center, Grossman School of Medicine including the Rusk Rehabilitation Center,
the Center of Health and Rehabilitation Research (CoHRR) at NYU Steinhardt, and
NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The applicant is expected to engage in strong programmatic
research; disseminate cutting-edge science; pursue and obtain grant funding;
teach and advise graduate and/or PhD students; and provide service to the
Department, School, and University.

 

 


QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking to hire a licensed (or New York state license
eligible) physical therapist with an academic doctorate in the general area of
rehabilitation science and engineering. Post-doctoral research training is
highly desirable. We seek individuals who have or have the potential to develop
a strong record of scholarship, leadership, curricular innovation, and an
excellent funding record. In addition, applicants should have demonstrated or
have the potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for
this position is $80,000-$120,000. New York University considers factors such as
(but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the
candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer
equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an
offer.
