Recently, U.S. Representatives Paul D. Tonko and Garret Graves introduced the
bipartisan Critical Material Transparency and Reporting of Advanced Clean Energy
(TRACE) Act.

This legislation seeks to establish a traceability program at the U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE) to develop software systems for digital identifiers
and interoperability standards that create visibility into supply chains for
clean energy technologies, including batteries.

The TRACE Act could not have come at a more opportune time….
With the recent finalizing of the Clean Vehicle Tax Credit, EV and battery
makers are now required to demonstrate increasing percentages of critical
minerals and battery components sourced from the U.S. and certain Free Trade
Agreement countries.

Globally, Europe’s Battery Regulation requires visibility to prove embedded
carbon, responsible sourcing, recycled content and battery passports, while
countries like India, Japan, South Korea, and Canada also bolster national
policies for transparency into critical supply chains.

Implementing digital supply chain traceability is the only way to meet these
requirements effectively.

National Coverage of EV charging was required for the EV Rally 2023.

2023 saw Team Paua Rangers run a van on the EV Rally

With a lower range and slower charging we needed to ensure a solid and robust
national network.

Thanks to Mercedes-Benz Vans UK for the loan vehicle.

Starting in Wales and routing through the UK's capitals before ending in Dublin
was the key theme of the Five Capitals rally.

Extending our Welsh network and adding Ireland in addition to Scotland
(connected in 2022) was a key requirement to ensure smooth delivery of 60,000
miles of electric driving.

Team Paua once again rally'ed around to ensure power everywhere - (see what we
did there!)

As we run in towards Rally season 2024 we continue to extend our capabilities as
density of coverage will be a key factor in the success of the 2024 rally.

Smaller operators and regional operators are an increasing part of ensuring we
have a strong patchwork of coverage in one app, one card and one single
experience at home and on the road.

Altilium secures government backing

UK-based clean technology group Altilium has secured backing from the UK
government to begin rapid prototyping of lithium-ion EV battery cells using
recycled cathode active materials (CAM).

The project has received grant funding of £639,797 from Innovate UK’s Faraday
Battery Challenge, with production of the cells taking place at the UK Battery
Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) using CAM produced at Altilium’s UK pilot
facility.

As well as addressing concerns over battery waste disposal, it will enable
automotive OEMs to meet sustainability goals and minimum recycled content
regulations, it said.
