We offer two courses/training's in mediation at St. Cloud State University. * Civil mediation is mediation for disputes such as insurance claims, disagreements between business partners, neighbors, and landlords/tenants, etc. * Family mediation is mediation for divorcing couples, parenting time or any other family related matters. Covers family law; psychological issues of adults and children in divorce; domestic abuse; financial and property issues, and mediator ethics in family cases. Both of these courses are certified by the Minnesota supreme court as qualifying individuals for the corresponding rosters. Both courses can be taken for CEU hours or as a credit based course. Both may also be taken at the graduate level for someone who is pursuing a master’s degree. Questions: contact info@scsutraining.com 40 HOUR CIVIL MEDIATION TRAINING CEU'S AND FOR CREDIT Dates: Dates TBD Time: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Location: SCSU Welcome Center and/or Riverview 205 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 40-Hour Facilitative Civil Mediation Training is a comprehensive experiential training course that teaches participants to skillfully facilitate conversations between people in conflict in order to assist them in reaching creative, mutually-satisfactory outcomes. This course is designed for professionals who want to learn to mediate, and meets all requirements of both the Minnesota Supreme Court’s Rule 114 Training Guidelines and the Community Dispute Resolution Program Training Requirements for community mediators in Minnesota. Upon completion of this certified course, participants will have the skills to mediate in a wide variety of situations and be eligible for inclusion on the Minnesota Rule 114 Qualified Neutral Civil Roster as well as be eligible to volunteer with community mediation centers throughout Minnesota. During the training, participants learn the mediation process, and gain the skills to identify the interests and fundamental needs that underlie the positions of people in conflict. Participants also learn to reframe positional or destructive communication into productive communication, and to understand conflict styles, become an active listener, manage impasse, and identify power imbalances. Additionally, participants learn skills to remain neutral in challenging situations, and gain an understanding of the cultural and ethical issues that may arise when mediating parties in conflict. Please bring $15 to the first class to purchase a required manual. Professional Credits: * 40 Alternative Dispute Resolution Credits (ADR); includes 2 Ethics Credits, 26 Standard Continuing Legal Education Credits (CLE), includes 2 Ethics Credits and 2 Elimination of Bias Credits, 30 total CLE * 40 SHRM Professional Development Credits * CEU certificate for educators, social workers, etc. will also be available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AVAILABLE AS A CEU COURSE OR AS A FOR-CREDIT COURSE. The differential is because this course counts both as a university course which meets for around 45 hours as well as qualifying one for the roster. Jeff is a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota General Rules of Practice and has taught mediation for over ten years. District courts throughout Minnesota require parties filing for divorce to consider alternative dispute resolution processes during the course of their court case. In this class we will cover: mediation theory and practice, family law; psychological issues of adults and children in divorce; domestic abuse; financial and property issues, and mediator ethics in family cases. Class also includes role plays, coaching and debriefing. A comprehensive experiential training course for professionals who want to learn to mediate family disputes and meets the requirements of the Minnesota Supreme Court’s Rule 114 Training Guidelines. Upon completion of this certified course, participants will have the skills to mediate in family and divorce situations and be eligible for inclusion on the Minnesota Rule 114 Qualified Neutral Family Roster.
