Rotavirus vaccine programs and hospital admissions for rotavirus

 * The success of publicly funded rotavirus vaccine programs for preventing
   community- and hospital-acquired rotavirus infections in Canadian pediatric
   hospitals: an observational study
   Although start dates of rotavirus vaccine programs across provinces varied,
   rotavirus infections at pediatric hospitals in Canada decreased by around 80%
   in the 1- to 9-year interval after program implementation.
 * Social determinants of access to timely elective surgery in Ontario, Canada:
   a cross-sectional population level study
   Social disadvantage, approximated by the ON-Marg Index for each patient’s
   neighbourhood of residence, had a small and inconsistent impact on the
   patient’s odds of exceeding target wait times for 7 common elective surgical
   procedures in Ontario.
 * Neighbourhood deprivation, distance to nearest comprehensive stroke centre
   and access to endovascular thrombectomy for ischemic stroke: a
   population-based study
   Endovascular therapy for ischemic stroke helps improve survival and outcome.
   However, people who live in poor neighbourhoods or far from comprehensive
   stroke centres may have a lower chance of receiving this therapy.
 * Trends in hospital coding for people experiencing homelessness in Canada,
   2015–2020: a descriptive study
   In 2018, hospitals were mandated to record homelessness using ICD-10-CA code
   Z59.0. The authors describe the use of Z59.0 in Hospital Morbidity Database
   records for fiscal years 2015/16 to 2020/21.
 * Exploring paramedic care for First Nations in Alberta: a qualitative study
   First Nations people face discrimination and systemic barriers when accessing
   paramedicine. Potential solutions include the integration of paramedics in
   expanded health care roles that incorporate First Nations perspectives and
   address local priorities.

   General Surgeon Department of Surgery – Ouellette Campus The Division of
   General Surgery at Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) is inviting applications
   for a full-time General Surgeon to join its team at the Ouellette Campus! The
   successful candidate is required as soon as March 2024. The call schedule and
   availability of elective OR, and Endoscopy, time will be discussed with the

   community located in Southwestern Ontario, at the southern end of Oxford
   County and is in close proximity to London, St. Thomas, Hamilton and Toronto.
   Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital (TDMH) is a full-service community
   hospital that provides both inpatient and outpatient care to the citizens of
   Tillsonburg and the surrounding area. TDMH is a 52 bed full service active
   treatment hospital with 30 acute care beds and 6 ICCU beds and sixteen
   chronic care beds and is recruiting for an Internist to provide full scope of
   Internal Medicine Services, as required. The types of cases in the ICU are
   mainly cardiac and respiratory, however, there is a mix of other cases and
   being a community hospital, there is a wide range of cases on the Medical
   Surgical Unit including the transfers from ICCU. The TDMH Emergency
   Department provides 24/7 coverage with approximately 27,000 visits per year.
   The hospital hosts a variety of services and specialties, including
   Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery (including
   General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery and Ophthalmology,) Critical Care and
   Coronary Care, Continuing Care, modern diagnostic services (i.e. CT,
   diagnostic digital imaging, laboratory, digital mammography, cardiac testing,
   respiratory services, 2-D echocardiology, bone mineral densitometry, core
   breast biopsy, etc.), Ambulatory Clinics, Satellite Dialysis Unit, and
   Rehabilitation Services. These specialists must be skilled in the management
   of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes and
   provide much needed back-up and support for our Hospitalists caring for the
   acutely ill patients. They must also be skilled in central line insertion,
   intubation and have Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and Advanced
   Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification. Skill requirements,
   including education and licensing: Certification and registration/licensure
   from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). This Internal
   Medicine position is permanent full-time. Internal Medicine has a one in four
   (4) call rotation and internists are required to provide on-call coverage to
   the TDMH ER, ICCU and inpatient units. Remuneration is fee for service to the
   Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) Salary range $144.23 to $168.28 per hour
   based on a 40 hour work week, 52 weeks per year. There are financial
