SWIMWEAR FABRICS AND MATERIALS



As a swimwear designer, sourcing materials can be challenging. The difference
between materials available in the design location and the manufacturing site
can pose a problem. It’s crucial to find a swimwear manufacturer that can work
with the required materials.

Swimwear fabrics generally fall into two categories: Nylons and Polyesters. Each
category offers various compositions with unique properties.

At Progarments, we understand the importance of fabric selection. With our

requirements.

We provide the broadest array of swimwear fabrics, including eco-friendly
options such as ltalian Carvico ECONYL®(sourced from ocean waste) and American
REPREVE®(created from plastic bottles). Always ahead of trends, we deliver a

market tastes-ranging from ribs and crinkle to velvet, glossy, vegan leather,
and beyond.

Our fabric printing is conducted in-house, ensuring same-day completion with
OEKO-TEX® certified eco ink and primarily utilizing recycled fabrics.

Manufacturing Process


COLORS AND PRINTS IN THE SWIMWEAR MANUFACTURING PROCESS



Progarments offers a wide variety of swimwear fabrics with a range of pre-dyed
colors. However, keep in mind that trends change quickly, affecting color
availability. During your design process, it’s crucial to consider these changes
and either pre-purchase sufficient fabric or remain flexible in your color
selection for manufacturing and reorders.

When it comes to digital printing, you have two options: sublimation and
direct-to-garment (DTG). DTG works with nylon but usually requires a high MOQ,
which may not be feasible for most swimwear startups. On the other hand,
sublimation printing can be achieved at a low MOQ, offering good quality and
permanent colors. But remember, it must be done on polyester fabric. We
recommend a blend of at least 60% polyester for the best and long-lasting
results. Swimwear manufacturers who claim they can sublimate on nylon might not
be well-informed about the process, so it’s better to avoid them.

Sublimated prints on polyester-based fabrics are highly regarded for their
performance in the fashion industry. Polyester is known for its durability, and
when combined with the sublimation print technique, it results in swimwear that
can withstand the elements like sun exposure, harsh water chemicals, and years
of wear and tear.
