HOW DO I WEAR A BOW TIE?

Bow ties should be worn with a collared dress shirt. The bow tie should ideally
fit just under the collar on both sides of the shirt. You can wear a pre-tied
bow tie, a clip-on bow tie, or a self-tie bow tie. If you wear it properly, you
likely won’t notice the difference.


WHAT TYPE OF TIE SHOULD I BUY FOR A CHILD?

For younger boys, a zipper or clip-on tie may stay put better and be easier to
put on your child. Older boys can try out a standard or skinny tie that must be
tied. If you want varying lengths, look for clip-on ties or zipper ties. These
pre-tied looks come in varying sizes while the standard and skinny ties come in
one length.


WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SKINNY TIE AND A CLASSIC TIE?

The main difference in a classic and a skinny tie is the width. A skinny tie is
roughly 2 1/2 inches wide whereas a classic tie is about 3 1/2 inches wide. Men
with a narrower torso may like the look of a skinny tie over a classic tie.
Skinny ties can be a little more informal than classic ties, but it greatly
depends on the outfit and occasion.
