Summary



Offshore wind remains one of the most promising resources to ensure Europe’s
energy security while transitioning to a net-zero economy. Despite its
significance, the offshore wind industry is facing serious challenges of rising
costs, complex permitting processes, supply chain delays, and insufficient grid
infrastructure. 

A robust transmission grid is crucial for realising Europe’s ambitious offshore
wind capacity targets. In October 2023, the European Commission announced the
European Wind Power Action Plan, with a special focus on adopting measures to
ensure the availability of necessary onshore and offshore grids. Developing a
resilient, economical, and efficient transmission infrastructure to meet
Europe’s green transition targets is more urgent than ever.

In this context, Global Transmission Report is organizing its 5th Annual
Conference on Offshore Wind Transmission Europe on February 28-29, 2024 in
Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam. The conference will discuss strategies,
technologies, and solutions for developing the transmission infrastructure to
integrate the envisioned offshore wind capacity while managing the supply chain
challenges. 

The conference will provide a meeting place for key stakeholders shaping the
offshore wind landscape in Europe. The event will bring together policymakers,
regulators, developers, utilities, technology providers, and industry experts to
share their experiences, perspectives, and lessons learned, discuss operational
challenges and best practices, and showcase technology and innovations that will
drive the offshore wind transmission sector in the region.
