Ulta Beauty
James Newland is the Director of Data Governance for Ulta Beauty. He is
responsible for defining, operationalizing, and championing enterprise scale
data governance to support data availability, quality, and understanding at
Ulta. He works closely with senior stakeholders across all data domains within
the business, such as Merchandising, Marketing, eCommerce, Finance, Supply
Chain, and HR to proactively identify business needs and use Ulta’s governance
framework and capabilities to turn data into opportunity and action. James is a
data leader with almost 25 years of experience in the management and governance
of data including metadata, data lineage, data quality measurement, and
remediation. He has experience managing multiple global teams dedicated to
different facets of data governance including data stewardship, data privacy,
and data quality. James has applied this experience to several industries
including most recently retail and financial services. James has a Masters from
Georgetown University and a Bachelors from James Madison University.
