Your passwords have not been stolen! We hope that's a relief for you to hear. Now there's no huge need for you to continue reading but if you'd really like to know we guess we should also mention that unfortunately your home address, phone number, first teachers name, favourite flavour of ice cream, browser history, and the name of your high school crush did get stolen from our database. But rest assured we're very sorry you found out. Now some of you may be asking, "wait why the hell is that information just stored in a database unencrypted?" and to those people we say, gosh you're annoying. What, do you expect us, a web based company, to hire people who actually care about data security? What's next! Having to hire phone support people who actually give a shit about fixing your problem. Where will it end! And complain as you might, the fact is there was no way to stop these extremely advanced thieves from stealing your data, even if we'd wanted to. Admittedly, yes, we probably should haven't have left the front door of our office unlocked. And yes telling the security guards to work from home might not have been a great idea. And YES fine we'll admit putting all your private details in an easy to access pile of paper in the foyer wasn't the smartest thing to do, but in our defence not doing all those things would have required many minutes of planning and oversight, and God knows we don't have the kind of money required for that! We only made $2 billion profit last year after all. Anyway we hope this puts your mind at ease, or that it will at the very least placate you all long enough for this to all blow over. We look forward to doing business with you, or someone pretending to be you, for many years to come.
