WORLD KIDNEY CANCER DAY 2024

World Kidney Cancer Day 2024 will take place on Thursday 20th June.

This year the theme is ‘listening’.

Being listened to: Highlighting the benefits of shared decision making.

If you don’t feel listened to: Helping patients feel empowered to seek a second
opinion.

Choosing who you listen to: Creating awareness around misinformation and how to
check if sources are reliable.

Details of resources and events will be available nearer the time, but be sure
to save the date and find out how your organisation can get involved by
contacting wkcd@ikcc.org

Would love to talk about new/existing basket trials for "non-clear cell
carcinoma" like this one for example:

Thoughts? Especially given recent EAU Guidelines for #papillary etc.

The IKCC is very proud of the contribution of our Medical Advisory Board member
Dr. Stênio Zequi of the A.C.Camargo Cancer Center and LARCG (Latin American
Renal Cancer Group) for two landmark, high impact research reports (1/5)

The other article in Nature Genetics (April 26th), which included samples from
over 1500 patients in Brazil, identified previously unknown genetic
susceptibilities to developing kidney cancer including the papillary subtypes.

Stênio created LARCG over 10 years ago and has been collecting patient data and
samples diligently to better study kidney cancer. Congratulations to Stênio and
his team. @acccancercenter @larcg_org (5/5)

Great episode! Would love to see a talk like this for patient advocates to
really dive deeper into trial results. Always learn new insights from
@PavlosMsaouel. Thank you!

Interesting question and it is important to hear from both patients and health
care providers. @kcCURE survey reported 59% of patients with rare kidney cancers
favor keeping non-clear cell. What is your vote?

Interesting phase 2 study of 40 patients with non-clear cell RCC that suggests
benefits in progression free survival and overall survival with cabozantinib and
nivolumab combination.

Looking forward to seeing the "red" carpet rolled out for all of the patients
and families, present and not, who joined the #clinicaltrials to be presented at
#ASCO24
Thank you for volunteering, for moving the science forward!
