WHAT'S NEW IN FLUTTERFLOW | JUNE 12, 2024

We’re thrilled to announce some exciting additions to enhance your development
workflow! Get ready for recursive components, perfect for creating nested
structures like comment threads or folder systems. Also, check out the new debug
panel in test mode sessions, featuring a comprehensive variable tab to monitor
your app’s behavior more effectively. These updates are all about making your
app development smoother and more intuitive. Let’s explore what’s new!

DEBUG PANEL  🐜

Dive into our new debug panel, now available during test mode sessions. This
handy tool displays the current values of all variables on the page, including
state variables, parameters, and global properties, giving you a comprehensive
view of your app's behavior in real-time.

We're committed to enhancing the debug panel even further, with plans to expand
the variable panel and introduce more debugging tools in upcoming releases!

RECURSIVE COMPONENTS 🔃

Unlock the power of recursive components in FlutterFlow! You can now embed a
component as a child within itself, perfect for creating reusable, nested
structures like folders or comment threads.

To see recursive components in action and discover how they can enhance your
app's functionality, check out this exciting demo.

IMPROVED CODEMAGIC DEPLOY OUTPUT  💬

We've overhauled the interface for Codemagic deployment outputs, making it
clearer and more intuitive. When an app deployment fails, the new design helps
you quickly pinpoint the root cause of the issue, enabling faster
troubleshooting and resolution. This improved output ensures you spend less time
debugging and more time developing.

SET CURSOR POSITION IN FORM FIELD 🖱️

Take greater control over user input with the new options in the Set Form action
in FlutterFlow. You can now set the cursor position to the start, end, or
highlight the entire selection of a text field. This update allows for the
integration of custom functions like text obscuring, while still offering a
seamless user experience by managing how and where the cursor appears in form
fields.

🐛 PLEASE FILE BUGS IN GITHUB 💜

Hi FlutterFlow community! I sooo appreciate all the feedback you send our way.
It helps us make the product even better!

I notice a lot of folks post bugs or urgent issues here in the community forum.
I want to remind everyone that we don't always see every community forum post.
But, we have automated triaging setup on GitHub to make sure we don't miss out
on urgent issues.

So, this is my request to all of you... file bugs on GitHub!!! I know the form
can be a bit long, but we really need that information to find the root cause of
the issue and get it fixed ASAP.

Let's all do our part by reminding folks who post about bugs, this way nothing
gets missed.

Thank you so much! 💜 💜 🐛

WHAT'S NEW IN FLUTTERFLOW | MAY 30, 2024

Tue, Jun 4
We're excited to bring you new features designed to enhance both the
functionality and visual appeal of your projects! From dynamic colors for Pie
Charts and Gradients to new merge conflict views, these enhancements are set to
elevate your development experience. Dive into the details and discover how
these new capabilities can transform your apps! Upcoming Flutter Version/Package
Upgrades ❗ In two weeks, FlutterFlow will be upgrading its Flutter version and
several key packages to enhance functionality and performance. For a detailed
walkthrough of what to expect and how to prepare, make sure to watch the video
below! Gradient Color by Variable 🌈 This improvement enables dynamic gradient
generation based on variable values, allowing for rich, context-sensitive color
transitions within your app's design. Ideal for creating engaging visuals that
adapt to user interactions, this feature adds a sophisticated touch to
gradients! Pie Chart Color by Variable 🎨 Enhance your data visualizations with
the new Pie Chart Color by Variable feature in FlutterFlow. This update allows
you to dynamically assign colors to pie chart segments based on variable values,
making your charts more intuitive and visually engaging. Merge Conflicts via
"Config Diff" View 🔃 Tackle merge conflicts with clarity using the newly
introduced "Config Diff" View in FlutterFlow. This feature simplifies the
conflict resolution process by providing a clear and visual comparison of
changes, helping you make informed decisions on which versions to accept or
modify. Ideal for managing conflicts across app state variables, constants, data
types, enums, and API values, the Config Diff View ensures that merging updates
becomes a straightforward and error-free process, enhancing your overall
development workflow. Learn more via about the Config Diff view via the
Branching documentation here. Exposed FF-Managed Flutter Tool 💬 FlutterFlow now
makes it easier than ever to use the same Flutter environment for both
development and debugging. By exposing the FlutterFlow-managed Flutter binary,
you can maintain consistency across your development process by using the same
Flutter version for editing and running your code. Opt for the "flutterflow run"
command in the CLI or set up your IDE to leverage this managed environment
directly, ensuring seamless transitions and fewer versioning issues. Other

 * ANYONE HAVE ALTERNATIVES THEY LIKE TO FLUTTERFLOW?

   Feedback
I kind of like Flutterflow and have made a lot of progress making an app, but
I have found that the support here on the community forum is lacking. I put
in questions and no one answers them. Does anyone like any other No Code apps
that are similar, but have more responsive support? Thanks.

 * DUPLICATED PROJECTS LEAD TO MISSING ASSETS (IMAGES)

   General Conversations
My app is over a year old. Along the way, I've duplicated the project in the
FF dashboard and built off the newest version of it, keeping the old ones in
the menu for reference. Today, I opened one of my apps and all the image
assets from the versions prior to the newest one, are missing their assets
from that project's FF google storage location. For example,
   https://storage.googleapis.com/flutterflow-io-6f20.appspot.com/projects/project_version1/assets/1234/image1.png
is 'access denied'. but an image with the same link with 'project_version4'
works fine. Basically, any image added before the last duplication of the
project is missing. (21 of them to be exact). I can tell which project
version the image belongs to by clicking the assets 'open your asset in a new
tab' icon on the top right of the asset. Did FF go in and clean house on old
projects that finally got deleted from the dashboard, but didn't think to
move the assets to the new project's storage location? Trying to figure out
what's going on and if my project 'duplication' is a bad practice.

 * HOMEMASH - A COMPREHENSIVE REAL ESTATE PLATFORM

   Best Practices
Hello FlutterFlow Community, I'm excited to share a project we've been
working on, HomeMash. It's a real estate platform designed to make the
process of renting, booking, or buying properties as easy as possible right
from your mobile device. 🔗 Project Link: HomeMash on FlutterFlowl ✍️ About
HomeMash: HomeMash aims to transform how users interact with real estate
online. With a focus on user experience, the app includes custom widgets
tailored to real estate functionalities. It leverages GPS for location-based
services, enhancing property search efficiency based on the user's current or
chosen location. Additionally, we’ve integrated Mapbox to provide clear,
detailed geographic visuals, which are crucial for real estate browsing.
Recent Updates: ◾ Streamlined Property Listings: We've improved the layout
and filters to help users find what they need faster. ◾ Optimized Booking
Flows: The booking process is now smoother, making it easier for users to
schedule visits or finalize transactions. ◾ Enhanced User Engagement: Through
intuitive design and responsive interactions, users can enjoy a seamless
experience that encourages longer app sessions and repeat visits. ⚙️
Technical Stack: 🔹 Frontend: Flutter, FlutterFlow, Custom Widgets 🔹
Backend: Firebase, Firebase Authentication 🔹 APIs: REST API integration for
dynamic data retrieval 🔹 Mapping: Mapbox for advanced mapping features 🔹
Location Services: GPS integration for real-time property tracking 🔹 State
Management: Efficient handling of app states for optimal performance 🔹
Notifications: Push notifications to keep users updated on property status
and app news 🔹 Deep Linking: Ensures a seamless user journey across various
sections of the app 🔹 Version Control: Managed with Git to keep our
development process smooth and collaborative. I'd love to hear your feedback
on HomeMash, any features you find useful, or suggestions for improvement.
Also, if anyone is interested in discussing the technical aspects or
collaborating on similar projects, feel free to reach out! Looking forward to
your thoughts and any discussions they might spark!

 * OLD FLUTTERFLOW PROJECTS ARE STARTING TO FAIL. ARE YOU EXPERIENCING THE SAME?

   General Conversations
It's now been over 40 days and FlutterFlow still hasn't fixed, in my opinion,
a critical bug. One of their many updates to FlutterFlow has caused Supabase
Auth to not redirect a user to a custom page. It's a terrible experience for
my users that I can't redirect them. I chose to disable "Navigate
Automatically" because I need to send the user to a custom page. It's
difficult to maintain a professional app when such basic things don't work in
my project. If I create a new and empty project, Supabase Auth works fine.
But not in the project I've been working on for more than 6 months. They keep
avoiding the issue and won't help me. Are there others with the same problem,
who have had a project running for a long time where strange things happen,
   causing things to stop working?

ALL THE WAY FROM PHILIPPINES

Hi, I am Alfred from Philippines, I am new to mobile app developer/flutterflow.
I have experience in Web Design and development. I have 2 question for the
community. Can FlutterFlow be able to create an app like in the photo? Or can we
do better UI/UX in FF? Also, can we create a 2 in 1 dashboard in a single app?
What I mean by that is that the first dashboard is for client (Real Estate
Booking App) while the other dashboard is for Company employees(Managment
dashboard) Is this something we can do in FF?UK

it's nuances, and have been able to build in days what might have taken weeks
before.

APP STATE NOT WORKING PROPERLY

I'm having problems with my App States. I tried to open an older project and I
found the App State codes were different in the main.dart

Project A (the one that's recent and I've been recently working on)

////////////////////////////////////

Project B (the older project):

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with their update from June 12.

It does not load the value and always return null even if the app state variable
is set to Persisted. This never happened before the June 12 update.

This is the flow from our project. As you can see theres a snackbar at the top.
thats the one that displayed. but after storing it, the values become null.

The first snack bar displayed the source data correctly

But the 2nd snack bar didn't appear and threw an error on the console log which
means the data from the app state is null even if the source data is valid
(since the first snack bar displayed it)

HAVE TO EXPLICITLY CLEAR A VALUE BEFORE SETTING IT

When I create a new object that contains a custom data type, I used to be able
to set a value for the custom type any time after the parent object was created.
Now, for some reason, that no longer works.

Specifically:

Parent Object = Type "Person"
A "Person" has a "Name" (which is a String can set directly with no problem)
A "Person" also has a "History", which is a List of "Interactions" (these are
custom data types and it's where I'm having the problem)

Again, when I create a new Person, I used to be able to add to their History
with no problem at any time after creation. But in recent builds of FlutterFlow,
that no longer works. It also doesn't throw any errors. It just doesn't do
anything.

Anyone else running into this or have ideas of what might be happening? (I
figured out a workaround, but would love if I could remove it. See below.)

GETTING VERCEL DEPLOYMENT ERROR FOR FLUTTER WEB APP CODE IMPORTED FROM
FLUTTERFLOW. CAROUSEL_SLIDER DEPENDENCY IS FAILING.

Getting Vercel deployment error for Flutter web app code imported from
flutterflow. Carousel_slider dependency is failing.

Error: 'CarouselController' is imported from both
'package:carousel_slider/carousel_controller.dart' and
'package:flutter/src/material/carousel.dart'. #3116

Hi,
I am getting an error while deploying a flutter-web app on vercel.
I imported the code from flutterflow and while deploying carousal_slider: 4.2.1
is breaking in logs;

The error is :
_'CarouselController' is imported from both
'package:carousel_slider/carousel_controller.dart' and
'package:flutter/src/material/carousel.dart'._

The same issue has been posted to carousel slider github repo.
serenader2014/flutter_carousel_slider#444

Possible cause:
The repo is not maintained anymore and works for flutter sdk: <3 and breaking on
flutter sdk version> 3.0.0.

CANNOT ADD TO AN UNMODIFIABLE LIST

We have encountered an issue with our application where we are unable to add
items to nested lists. Our app involves a structure where an entity contains a
list of sub-entities, and each sub-entity contains another list of items. We can
add entities to the main list without any issues, but adding sub-entities or
items results in an error.

This issue occurs in both simple and complex data structures. I created a new
app for testing it, and the issue also happens whenever we try to add items to a
list that is a field of an item inside another list.

We need help urgently, as we have to deliver the app to a client on Monday and
this bug makes it useless. Please help 😭

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

We should be able to "add to list" on items that are inside of an item that is
contained in a list on the app state.
The application should handle the addition of items to nested lists seamlessly,
whether the lists are initially empty or not.
Unmodifiable list should not occur on flutterflow.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Create a New FlutterFlow App
2. Create three data types. Set one field on dataType1 to be a list of dataType2
items. And one field on dataType2 to be a list of dataType3 items.
3. Create an app state persisted variable that is a list of dataType1 items.
4. Create a simple UI that allows you to add dataType1 to that app state list.
5. Create a simple UI that allows you to add dataType2 items to the field that
is an empty list of dataType2 items on that dataType1 you added.
6. Observe the error.
7. See that if you implement a "clear value" action to that dataType2 empty
list, it will let you add them.

It's acting as if the JSON Body is not being POSTed by the API. I have only set

It works when I deploy to TestFlight in IPad, but not when testing in Dev

Please help - testing is becoming super painful.

SINCE A FEW DAYS FLUTTERFLOW SHOWS ORANGE EXCLAMATION MARK INSTEAD OF LOADING
INDICATOR

Hello, I have a page with a stack, a lottie animation, a container and a column.
The lottie animation and column are conditionally visible through a boolean

was working fine until a few days ago. Now I get an orange exclamation mark
instead of the lottie animation.
