RUTTE GINS, GENEVERS AND LIQUEURS SINCE 1872

Since 1872, the Rutte Distillery has been making gins, genevers and liqueurs in
Dordrecht, using traditional methods and only the very best ingredients. Visit
our distillery or join us in our tasting room.

TASTING ROOM

As soon as you enter our building, you’ll smell the smells of yore. This is a
place untouched by time. Our building, housing our distillery and shop, is still
in its original state. We will first welcome you in our historic Tasting Room,
which was once Simon Rutte’s living room. Five generations of distillers lived
and worked here. It’s clear to see, It’s clear to smell, and it’s clear to
taste.
Rutte’s history is rich in anecdotes and fun facts, and we’ll gladly introduce
you to this remarkable past. We explain how we make our special products and
which fruits, spices and herbs we use. Of course, we’ll also show you the stills
in our distillery, as well as taking you to the aging room, where our drinks lie
in oak barrels until they have reached full maturity.

TASTING ROOM



SHOP

The art of distillation has been passed down from father to son for generations.
We still make our gins and genevers the very same way as our founder, Simon
Rutte, did in 1872 from the small back room in our Dordrecht distillery: with
love, by hand.

Simon was able to add exotic spices and fruits to his creations because they
were transported to the ports of Dordrecht by sailing ships. His spirits quickly
gained in popularity, after which he decided to convert the front of his
family’s pub into a liquor store. To this day, this is where you’ll find the
Rutte shop (open Monday through Saturday).

The Rutte family originally came from the south of Holland. They moved to
Rotterdam in the 18th century. By the middle of that century they were already
involved in the distilling business.
