In 2019 Georgie also presented the BBC’s FIA formula E’s Championship coverage. Alongside this, Georgie has reported for ITV Tonight, Good Morning Britain, ITV Weekend and has appeared on The Jeremy Vine Show (formally The Wright Stuff). Most recently Georgie featured on ‘How to spend it well at Christmas’ alongside Phillip Schofield, selecting some of the best gadgets on offer for gift ideas in 2020. She also comments on breaking tech stories for Channel 5 News, Radio 5 live, talk radio & BBC Radio 2. Georgie is interested in how technology is disrupting the way we work and socialise. Her keynote exploring future tech trends has taken her all over the world, being invited to speak at events including Web Summit, Mobile World Congress and Smart City Expo. Speaker Profile × THEO PAPHITIS Chairman at Theo Paphitis Retail Group, Dragon from BBC's Dragons' Den Theo Paphitis was born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1959. His father and grandparents worked for British bases in Cyprus enabling him to emigrate to England when Theo was six. Theo's reputation is founded in turning around ailing companies, as a conference or keynote speaker he speaks candidly about business turnaround. Theo started his career at 16, as a tea boy/filing clerk with Lloyds of London insurance brokers before making his first foray into retail. At 20 he moved into finance - property and corporate, specialising in turnarounds, and set up his own company at the age of 23. In the following years, he purchased and turned around ailing companies like Ryman, La Senza, and Robert Dyas, and has turned these companies into successful, solid and profitable retail businesses. Theo spent eight years as a 'Dragon' on the incredibly popular BBC show Dragon's Den, and invested in wide variety of businesses. He has also appeared on BBC Question Time. In 2015 Theo launched the Theo Paphitis Retail Group which encompasses Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and successful lingerie brand Boux Avenue. The combined group comprises over 350 stores and 4,000 employees who serve over 28 million customers a year. During this time, he spent eight years as Chairman of Millwall FC, taking it out of administration, into the Championship and to the FA Cup Final. He was also a Director of the Football League and an FA Councillor. Speaker Profile × MARY PORTAS Chief Creative Officer – Portas Starting her career on the shop floor, she rose through the ranks of retail giants John Lewis, Harrods and TopShop. When appointed Creative Director at the struggling Harvey Nichols store, she helped turned it into a retail powerhouse and was on the board by the age of 30. She has since worked with some of the world’s premier retail and product brands including Westfield, Clark's, Dunhill, Louis Vuitton, Mercedes-Benz, Estée Lauder and Boden. Her breakthrough, BBC Two’s Mary, Queen of Shops saw her help turnaround struggling small retail businesses. Mary’s high-profile government review into struggling British high streets, led to the creation of pilot regeneration projects around the UK. The Chief Creative Officer of her own retail consultancy, and author of Work Like a Woman: A Manifesto For Change, she delivers an inspiring message of how businesses and individuals can adapt, transform and lead. Speaker Profile × JO FAIRLEY Entrepreneur; editor; co-founder of Green & Blacks In 1991, Jo Fairley co-founded the pioneering organic chocolate company Green & Black’s (with her husband Craig Sams), which has now gone on to be ‘bigger than Marmite’ (in sales terms) and ‘cooler than Prada’ (according to two Coolbrands surveys). In 2005, the brand was sold to Cadbury’s, but Jo remains in an ambassadorial role, travelling the world as the brand grows internationally in countries including the US and Australia. Jo left school at 16 (with six ‘O’ Levels), by the age of 23 was the youngest-ever magazine editor in the UK, editing first Look Now and then Honey Magazine. Jo now runs Judges Bakery - an organic one-stop shop - and The Wellington Centre, an 11-room ‘boutique’ wellbeing centre, in her home town of Hastings. She continues to juggle this with her writing career. Speaker profile × ULF-BJÖRN RÖNN CFO – Ridestore Ulf-Björn is CFO at Ridestore, an online-focused retailer of snowboard, ski and outdoor apparel, founded in 2006. The privately-owned company is based in Sweden and serves Europe and North America under three brand names: Ridestore, Dope Snow and Montec. Ridestore has a customer-focused ethos and its motto is “At Ridestore there are no bosses.
