OVERVIEW

Special educational needs schools across the UK are under pressure, with many
schools oversubscribed, overcrowded, and underfunded.

In March 2023, the government announced plans to change the special educational
needs and disabilities (SEND) and alternative provision system in England. The
proposals in the improvement plan will focus on improving outcomes for children
and young people, improving experiences for families, reducing the current
adversity and frustration they face, and delivering financial sustainability.

The Institute of Government & Public Policy’s Annual Special Educational Needs
and Disabilities (SEND) Conference will explore the latest policies, guidance,
and strategies to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND. The
event will Dive into the SEND and AP Green Paper and Consultation, examining the
proposed improvement plan designed to enhance experiences for families, reduce
adversity, and deliver financial sustainability.
