BARBARA DAVIES: Lucy Letby was born in January 1990, six months after her
parents John and Susan (centre) married and not long after they bought the house
where they still live, a 1930s semi in a cul-de-sac in Hereford. Their daughter,
say neighbours, was always a 'delight' to her parents. They watched her thrive
at comprehensive Aylestone School, then Hereford Sixth Form College before
becoming a nurse. As devoted parents, their blinkered belief in their child is
not exactly surprising. Letby is only the fourth woman in British criminal
history to be given a whole-life tariff but, unlike killers such as Myra Hindley
and Rose West, there is no suggestion that she endured a brutal or disadvantaged
childhood.

£388,000. Both are now on Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) in preparation at
returning them to useful roles in society, with sources saying they have plans
to live together when Delaney is released from prison. Now mother-of-three
Barber is believed to be taking advantage of their less restricted regimes to
meet up with Delaney on her way to and from her job working on a construction
site in Hounslow, the Sun reports.

babies in her care. Dr Ravi Jayaram, who is a senior paediatrician at the
Countess of Chester Hospital, had joined other doctors in warning NHS bosses
about the serial killer months before police were called in. Now, after the
33-year-old was jailed for life without the possibility of parole today, Dr
Jayaram has unleashed his fury on hospital managers who he says ordered him and
colleagues to apologise to the nurse after raising their concerns about her
conduct. Speaking to ITV News tonight, the paediatrician said he is angry at the
failure of bosses to apologise given what has happened since police made the
horrific findings in their investigation into the deaths, code named Operation
Hummingbird. He added that he was 'incensed' by attempts from hospital managers
to try and justify their decisions after the full extent of Letby's depraved
crimes were revealed. Last night the director of nursing at the hospital while
Letby was on her murder spree was suspended.

most depraved murderers at a prison where inmates have the chance to go
shopping, pet baby animals and decorate their cells pink. The 33-year-old, who
will be held in segregation at first to stop her being attacked by fellow
inmates, is likely to be jailed in HMP Low Newton in Durham alongside Joanna
Dennehy, who murdered three men during a ten-day spree in 2013, the Times
newspaper reported. Both Letby and Dennehy were sentenced to whole life orders.

worked at the hospital and was one of Letby's direct line managers - said she
wasn't given enough information to justify taking Letby (inset) off the ward.
She left the trust in 2018 and now runs a holiday rental near her home in
Denbighshire, North Wales. She said she is 'taking legal advice'. Since Letby's
conviction, executives at the hospital have been criticised for failing to stop

As many as 800 migrants are thought to have landed in Britain today on could
have been the busiest day of Channel crossings so far this year. A total of 16
boats arrived on the south coast of England on Monday as smugglers on the French
coast sought to capitalise on fine weather conditions. Although the final tally
won't be published until tomorrow,  sources claimed tonight the number of
migrants could be above the current daily record for 2023 of 756 on August 10.
It is a new blow for Rishi Sunak's pledge to 'stop the boats', with the Prime
Minister today admitting that this may not be fulfilled before the next
election. The migrants who did arrive today were seen smiling with some
making Albania's controversial eagle hand sign and the 'V for Victory' gesture
at photographers.
