My mother first created this for our family in high school. Now that I'm on my
own, I make it at least once a month. It is so comforting!

INGREDIENTS

 * 1 (16 ounce) package farfalle (bow tie) pasta

 * ½ cup butter

 * 2 cloves garlic, minced

 * ¼ cup olive oil

 * 1 large head green cabbage, shredded

 * salt and pepper to taste

 * 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced

 * ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS

 1. Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rolling boil over
    high heat. Once the water is boiling, stir in the bow tie pasta and return
    to a boil. Cook the pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta
    has cooked through, but is still firm to the bite, about 12 minutes. Drain
    well in a colander set in the sink.

 2. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the garlic, olive oil,
    and cabbage; season with salt and pepper; cook until tender, about 15
    minutes. Stir in the sausage and bow tie pasta; cook until completely
    heated, about 5 minutes more. Top with Parmesan cheese and serve
    immediately.

This is a great recipe for cabbage lovers -like me. My prep is alittle
different. I use the same ingredients but slice rather than shred and I also
throw in a big sliced onion and about a cup of beef stock. Into the big frying
pan it all goes until tender. Finally I dump the pasta in a well I made in the
middle of the cabbage and align pieces of the sausage around the pan like spokes
on a wagon wheel for presentation. (I fry the sausage first - sometimes I use
Keeebassa) I this p

Loved it! I followed the recipe as written except used a bit less butter. I also
added some cajun seasoning to add a bit of spice.

I made this recipe as written. It was easy to put together and delicious
although a bit oily. The next time I make this I will follow the advice of other
reviewers and cut back on the butter and oil.

Like others, I reduced the oil and butter and used beef stock. Only half as much
pasta as I wanted the cabbage to be the star of the show. A little bland. Will
use more seasonings or different sausage when I make it again. Hubby liked it!!

Hear me out the flavor isn’t super complex or out of this world buuuut the
simplicity let’s the vegetables show their true glory. I changed some
measurements around like half the pasta, added milk and halved the butter. I
also added some Italian seasoning to boost things just a tad but it was so good
and very budget friendly! Easy to throw together and great leftovers which is
the most important part for me.
