Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please search through some of the most common questions to get the answers you
are seeking. If your question or concern isn’t addressed per the list below,
please get in touch.

WHO IS SEATTLE PICKLEBALL LEAGUES?

Check out the About page.

WHY WAS SEATTLE PICKLEBALL LEAGUES STARTED?

There is a lack of leagues for outdoor play here in Seattle. Most leagues are
indoors at community centers or gyms with hardwoods. People that play on outdoor
courts know there’s a difference. In searching for a league to join myself, I
have come up short. I decided to start my own leagues so that I can play in one.
Rather than only start a league at the court that I typically play at, I thought
there might be others out there looking for a league themselves.

WHEN WILL MATCHES BE PLAYED?

These are flex leagues. Very similar to Tennis Flex Leagues or Golf Flex
Leagues. You will be sent a form every week that will take less than a minute to
select the days and times that your team is available to play. Your opponents
will be sent the same form. The software will then match you up for your games
at the times that both you and your opponents have selected as your
availability.

WHERE WILL MATCHES BE PLAYED?

You should plan to play your matches at one of the courts in the the region that
you've signed up for and at the times that you have indicated your availability.
You are welcome to play at another court if you’d like though it should be
agreed upon by your partner and your opponents for that week.

HOW DO FLEX LEAGUES WORK?

Teams pick a day, time, and place where they can all meet and play. Please keep
in mind that not everyone is retired, Bob. It'll do your team and your opponents
a service to have some weeknight and weekend time available to play the young
folk that are still in the struggle. The only stipulation is all scores have to
be submitted by the weeks end. Example: Match to take place between March 11th -
18th, scores need to be submitted at the latest by March 18th at 11:59 PM

CAN I SIGN UP WITHOUT A PARTNER?

The league management software that SPL uses doesn’t allow you to sign up
without a partner. BUT, email me at Seattle Pickleball Leagues @ gmail dot com
and I will add you to a list of those looking for partners in your division and
get you connected so that you can play. Email the region you want to play at,
the division and rating and I’ll do my best to get you matched up. (Example:
Need a Partner for North Seattle Mens Doubles 3.0 - 3.5)

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH ALL THE MONEY FROM REGISTRATIONS?

The options are endless! I'd like the SPL to be a resource to improve conditions
at our local courts that we all love to play at. How about more nets for courts
that are lacking them? How about boxes for the courts to put lost and found
items in? How about bribing (lobbying) city officials to allocate more resources
to pickleball and get us more courts? When the time comes, you'll have a say in
where the money gets spent.

League play centered around friendly competition.
