Hal Jordan is one of Earth's Green Lanterns. A former military test pilot, he is

HISTORY
EARLY LIFE
Hal was raised in a multi-religious household. His father is Catholic, while his
mother is Jewish.[3]
As a child, Hal was traumatized by watching his father, a pilot, die in a plane
crash.[4] Refusing to bow down to fear, he followed in his father's footsteps
and became a military test pilot, despite being terrified every time he flew.[5]
BECOMING GREEN LANTERN
Years later, Hal had been kicked out of the military for assaulting an officer,
and was reduced to an engineer giving planes tune-ups. He was abducted by a
dying alien, Abin Sur. Sur wanted Hal to replace him in the Green Lantern Corps,
an intergalactic police force that had safeguarded the universe for billions of
years. [5]
Hal accepted and was summoned for basic training to the Corps headquarters on
the planet Oa. On completion, he was assigned to Thaal Sinestro of Korugar.[5]
EARLY ADVENTURES
ROGUES GALLERY
Hal and Sinestro worked well together and became friends. At some point,
however, Hal discovered Sinestro had enslaved Korugar using his ring. He
attacked Sinestro and turned him in to the Corps, earning Sinestro's lifelong
enmity.[6][7][8]
At various points Hal has fought against Evil Star,[9] Black Hand[10] and Hector
Hammond.[11]
THE JUSTICE LEAGUE
Hal was among founding members of the Justice League. While the team's actual
first meeting is debated, prime amongst the contenders was when the heroes who
would eventually comprise the league fought off an attack by the alien
Appellaxians, which resulted in them nearly being turned into trees before
emerging victorious. The heroes, inspired by their victory, formed a team not
unlike the historical Justice Society of America or its lesser-known successor,
the Justice Experience, christening it the Justice League. One of their earliest
foes was Starro the Conquerer.[12]
In original New 52 Continuity, the Justice League formed following an invasion
of Earth by Darkseid. However, following subsequent changes to the timeline,
this was supplanted with an adventure resembling the team's Earth-1 and New
Earth origin. While Darkseid's invasion may have still occurred, it seemingly
did not occur in the way originally depicted.
At some point, Hal was possessed by Parallax in his despair following the
destruction of Coast City. With the help of his friends he ultimately broke
free, but the incident remained one of Hal's few fears.[4][13][14]

ALLIANCE WITH SINESTRO
After being stripped of his ring by the Corps, Hal returned home, resigned. In
his Coast City apartment, Jordan was hounded by his landlord for overdue rent.
As he looked out the window, Hal noticed a woman in the building across the
street being threatened. He jumped out his seventh story window, crashed through
the window of the woman's apartment, and subdued her attacker. Only then does he
look up to see the room filled with a camera crew and realized that the woman
and her attacker are actors. Sometime later, Carol arrived to bail Hal out of
jail. She tells him it's time to move on with his life and offered Hal a job at
Ferris Aircraft. Thinking it over, Hal asked Carol out on a date. Later that
night, Hal and Carol were dining in a fancy restaurant. Hal tells Carol he will
accept her offer for a job and then says he has something else to ask her: he
needed her to co-sign a car lease for him. Carol then threw her drink in his
face and stomped off. Hal chased after and tried to apologize, not realizing
Carol was expecting a proposal. Thoroughly mad, Carol drove off, leaving Hal
stranded in a growing rainstorm. Soaking wet, Hal finally arrived home only to
find an eviction notice attached to his apartment door. The night is not over,
however, as Sinestro was waiting and offered Hal a chance to regain his
ring.[15]

Despite Sinestro's offer, Hal attacked him but Sinestro easily subdued him.
Sinestro said that Hal's life had been very difficult lately without his ring.
Then, Sinestro created a ring and placed it on Hal. Powered by the ring, Hal
freed himself from the chains and blasted Sinestro with an energy beam. However,
the beam did not affect Sinestro. Confused, Hal asked what was wrong with the
ring and Sinestro stated that there was nothing wrong with it. Since the ring
was created by Sinestro, he alone could control it. To prove his point, Sinestro
powered down his ring and Hal fell to a rooftop. As he reactivated the ring,
Sinestro proclaimed that Hal was his servant. Then, Hal heard emergency sirens
and flew to see the problem, to Sinestro's annoyance. Hal and Sinestro watched
as a bridge was about to collapse. Hal saved a woman, but Sinestro deactivated
his ring and the woman fell into the water. Then, Sinestro fixed the entire
bridge and saved all of the victims, including the woman. As Sinestro
reactivated Hal's ring, Gorgor, a member of the Sinestro Corps and the one
behind the bridge's collapse, attacked them. Sinestro fought Gorgor, proclaiming
that all the members of his Corps gave into their sadistic urges instead of
obeying the code of conduct he created. Then, he killed Gorgor with a sword
construct. Sinestro told Hal that the Sinestro Corps had enslaved Korugar and he
will help him destroy them.[16]
Sinestro explained to Hal that he needed him to liberate Korugar from the
Sinestro Corps. If the other Green Lanterns got involved, there would be a
massacre. Hal decided to go with Sinestro, but not before he said goodbye to
Carol. However, Sinestro wouldn't let him, as the fate of Korugar was more
urgent. Hal angrily punched Sinestro in the face, saying that Sinestro was not
better than him. Sinestro simply laughed, saying that he was better than Hal,
and he already knew it. Then, Sinestro flew off to Korugar, followed by a
reluctant Hal.
Hal and Sinestro arrived at Korugar, and Sinestro revealed his plan: they were
to stay hidden until sunset and Sinestro would fight the Corpsmen while Hal went
to the Yellow Central Battery and deactivated it, as it could only be
deactivated by a Green Lantern. Hal expressed confusion at Sinestro's decision
of using a Green Lantern as a failsafe for the Yellow Battery but nevertheless
went along with the plan. Sinestro changed his uniform's color to black,
surprising Hal, as he didn't know the ring could do that.
As they hid in Korugar's ruins while waiting for the sunset, Hal and Sinestro
watched as the Corpsmen enslaved the Korugarans and brought them to cells. Just
as a Corpsman was about to kill a young Korugarian, another Korugarian named
Arsona attacked him. Sinestro was surprised, as he knew Arsona. However, the
Corpsman restrained her and prepared to kill her, and Sinestro decided to
attack.
Hal, knowing that Sinestro was drawing their attention, gone for the Yellow
Central Battery, where he was attacked by another Corpsman. Hal quickly killed
him and entered the Battery, but the Battery blasted him, much to Sinestro's
shock.[17]
As Hal was blasted by the Yellow Power Battery, he saw his relationship with
Carol with another perspective. However, the Battery discovered that Hal wasn't
Sinestro and stopped blasting him with energy. The Battery was not trying to
disintegrate him; instead, it was trying to teleport him to the Antimatter
Universe. As Hal lost consciousness, the Sinestro Corpsmen put him in a cell.
As Hal came to, he tried to get out of the cell; however, the cell had been
designed to withstand green energy. As his ring's energy levels approached 0%,
Hal used the last of his ring's power to create a construct of Carol.
The Corpsmen placed Sinestro in a cell alongside Hal's. Sinestro's cell was also
filled with Korugarian prisoners. Hal listened to Sinestro talk with Arsona, who
was personally upset with Sinestro's betrayal against Korugar. To get out of the
cells, Hal suggested to Sinestro to create rings for the Korugarians, just like
he created a ring for him. With power rings, the Korugarans would fight back
against the Corpsmen. Sinestro was not sure about this plan, saying that the
rings would only last ten minutes before disappearing, but Hal told him to try.
Exerting himself, Sinestro managed to create rings for the Korugarans. However,
the Korugarians, led by a vengeful Arsona, decided to use their new power to
attack Sinestro instead.[18]

Hal asked Arsona and the Korugarians not to use their rings to attack Sinestro,
as their rings wouldn't last long. Sinestro also said that the rings the
Korugarians wielded cannot be used against Sinestro because he created them. To
escape their cells, Sinestro remotely controlled his Power Battery, causing an
explosion that destroyed the cells, allowing Sinestro, Hal and the Korugarians
to escape and fight back.
Sinestro lent his battery to Hal so that he can recharge his ring. As the
Korugarians fought the Corpsmen, Sinestro and Hal returned to the Yellow Central
Power Battery to deactivate it. Hal asked Sinestro why he failed the first time
he tried to deactivate the Battery, Sinestro answered that the Battery thought
Hal was Sinestro because he was carrying his Battery and wore a ring he created.
Sinestro told Hal that they had to use his Green Battery to extinguish the
Yellow Battery's light, activating the Yellow Battery's survival mode, in which
the Battery began retracting energy from the Corpsmen's rings, causing the
Corpsmen to fall into a coma. The plan worked and the Corpsmen were
incapacitated before they could inflict any serious harm on the Korugarians.
Although Korugar was saved, the Korugarians had mixed feelings toward Sinestro.
Arsona, still angry at him, said that the Korugarians will always consider him
to be their enemy. Hal and Sinestro took the Sinestro Corpsmen as prisoners and
left Korugar.
Flying through space with the Battery and the Corpsmen under custody, Hal and
Sinestro talked about recent events. Sinestro believed that Guardians were
insidious and becoming a greater danger to the universe than he ever was, but
Hal still denounced Sinestro's actions. Declaring their pact over, Sinestro
de-charged Hal's ring, saying he could keep it, but he never stated he would
provide a way to recharge when he made the deal in the first place. Then,
Sinestro sent Hal back to Earth.
Returning to Earth, Hal resolved to find another way to recharge his ring, until
he remembered Carol. Hal went to Ferris Aircraft and met Carol with a kiss,
telling her about what happened in Korugar. He apologized for everything they
had gone through, told her that he wanted her to be the last thing he saw before
he died and promised to improve their relationship. She accepted Hal's apology
and the two restarted their relationship.[19]
Hal resumed his life on Earth with Carol's help. During a date in the Coast City
Aeronautical Museum, Hal defended a mechanic from some coworkers that attacked
him because he caught them stealing plane parts. After the date, Hal told Carol
that he didn't need to be Green Lantern.
The next morning, Hal and Carol woke up after spending the night together.
Suddenly, Hal's ring attached itself to his finger and Sinestro appeared before
them, saying that Hal was still of use to him.[20]

SECRET OF THE INDIGO TRIBE
Hal refused to obey Sinestro's commands again, until Sinestro threatened Carol,
causing Hal to attack him. As Hal and Sinestro fight, Sinestro held the
advantage, as Hal's ring couldn't be used to hurt Sinestro, who effortlessly
incapacitated Hal and told him about the Guardians' plans to replace the Green
Lantern Corps.
Suddenly, Indigo-1 and a group of Indigo Lanterns appeared before Hal and
Sinestro. Indigo-1 declared the Indigo Tribe's intentions to deal with Sinestro,
saying that the Guardians' decision to allow Sinestro keep his Green Lantern
ring was a mistake. Then, the Indigo Lanterns took Sinestro and teleported away,
with Hal following them to the Indigo Tribe homeworld. The Indigo Lanterns
knocked Hal out and placed him in a cell.
As Hal came to, he discovered his ring was discharged. Another prisoner begged
Hal to free him, but an indigo energy blast knocked him out. Then, Black Hand
appeared before Hal. Hal asked Black Hand what the Indigo Tribe wanted with
Sinestro, and Black Hand replied that they were all saved. He said that Sinestro
was no longer a worry and he would be reborn, just like he was.[21]
Black Hand tells Hal that the Indigo Tribe will make Sinestro one of their own.
He also shows Hal his ability to cycle through the emotional spectrum. Hal
tricks him into channeling willpower and manages to recharge his ring. As Hal
escapes from his cell, more Indigo Tribesmen come after him. He tries to elude
them but realizes he cannot fly. The ring tells him that the energy Hal absorbed
from Black Hand is simulated energy and the ring's power remains limited. Hal
asks if he can still create constructs, and the ring replies that they are
available but unreliable. Hal creates a zip line and a motorcycle to escape from
the Indigo Tribesmen.
Riding across the dungeon, Hal encounters a massive statue of Abin Sur. Touching
a panel in the statue, Hal activates a series of holograms that say that Abin
Sur is the creator and savior of the Indigo Tribe. He saved them all, beginning
with his greatest enemy: Indigo-1. Suddenly, Hal is ambushed by the Indigo Tribe
and Sinestro, who has been converted into an Indigo Lantern.[22]
As the Indigo Lanterns surround Hal, Sinestro expresses regret at everything he
has done to Hal, but Hal doesn't buy it, knowing that Sinestro was brainwashed.
Hal asks Indigo-1 why are Indigo Lanterns attacking him, reminding her of the
alliance between the Green Lantern Corps and the Indigo Tribe. Indigo-1 replies
that the alliance still stands, and the Indigo Tribesmen will return him to
Earth, but Sinestro will stay on the Indigo homeworld. Hal refuses to leave
without Sinestro, so he escapes into the Forbidden Jungles, hoping to find the
Indigo Central Battery.
Hal travels through the jungle and finds a mysterious being, who recognizes him
as a Green Lantern. The being identifies himself as Natromo, and Hal recognizes
his name from the Indigo Tribe oath. Natromo says that he didn't want his name
to be used on the Indigo oath. He also says that "Nok", translated into human
languages, means "compassion be with you", and is the name of the Indigo
homeworld. Hal sees that Natromo is not wearing an Indigo ring, and asks him if
he created the Indigo Tribe. Natromo replies that he created the Indigo Tribe
along with another Green Lantern: Abin Sur.
Leading Hal to the Indigo Central Battery, Natromo explains to him the origins
of the Indigo Tribe. It was he and Abin Sur who created the Indigo Power Rings
so that he could create an army to fight in the Blackest Night. The Indigo Tribe
was also meant to fight the Guardians because Abin had seen the future and
discovered they would become corrupted. Natromo is preparing to attack the
Guardians when Abin returns, but Hal says that Abin is dead.
Shocked, Natromo states that without Abin, they have no chance of defeating the
Guardians. Saddened by Abin's death, Natromo detonates the Indigo Central
Battery. At that moment, the Indigo Lanterns arrive, but the Battery's
destruction deactivates their rings. Although Sinestro is freed from the ring's
influence, the former Indigo Lanterns are released too.[23]
Hal and Sinestro run into the jungle, and Hal explains that the Indigo Tribesmen
are in fact brainwashed criminals, but their Battery is dead and they have
reverted to their former selves. Sinestro tries to fight, but Hal gets him into
a jeep construct. Sinestro says that he doesn't need Hal's help, but Hal asks if
Sinestro doesn't need him, why did he give him a ring in the first place. He was
willing to get his life back on track, but because of the Guardians' plan, he
will have to get involved in Green Lantern affairs again. Sinestro replies that
Hal is a Green Lantern, and that is his life.
Suddenly, they stumble upon Natromo, and Hal imprisons him in a cage. Natromo
pleads to be released so that he can say goodbye to his family, but Hal asks him
to repair the Indigo Battery. Sinestro threatens Natromo by aiming a stake at
his neck, but Hal convinces him that fear will not solve the problem. Sinestro
decides to hold the Indigo Tribesmen off, while Hal and Natromo try to repair
the Battery.
As Hal and Natromo get to the Battery, Natromo asks Hal how did he know Abin
Sur. Hal replies that Abin was his predecessor in the Green Lantern Corps, he
gave him his ring and responsibilities; and if that includes uniting the Indigo
Tribe against the Guardians, then he will accept that responsibility as well.
Hal inspires Natromo to believe in himself as much as he believed in Abin.
Natromo tries to repair the Battery, but he cannot reassemble the pieces without
a single spark of compassion. Suddenly, Iroque enters the Battery chamber,
begging them to repair the Battery. Hal and Natromo realize that even without
her ring, Iroque is capable of feeling compassion. Using Iroque's compassion,
Natromo successfully repairs the Battery, restoring the Indigo Tribe, including
Sinestro.
Hal asks Natromo to let Sinestro go, but Natromo cannot do that; only the Indigo
Tribe can release him. Indigo-1 agrees to let Sinestro go, but only if Hal helps
him find redemption even without an indigo ring. Indigo-1 asks Hal if he
believes Sinestro can be a hero again, and Hal replies that he wants to believe
that.[24]

REVENGE OF BLACK HAND

As the Indigo Tribe releases Sinestro, Natromo inverts the link between Hal's
and Sinestro's rings. Now, Hal can control Sinestro's ring instead of the other
way around. Unfortunately, Black Hand has escaped the Indigo Tribe's control.
Indigo-1 teleports the two Lanterns to Korugar, where Sinestro has hidden the
Book of the Black. As they read the Book to find out more about the Guardians'
plans to replace the Green Lantern Corps, they are teleported right to Black
Hand's old home.[25]

After a lengthy fight with Black Hand's forces, Hal and Sinestro pass out after
running out of power in their rings.[26] Black Hand buries Sinestro and Hal
alive. Hal breaks free and fights against Black Hand, and is saved by Sinestro.
The two of them fight Black Hand until the Guardians arrive, who command Black
Hand to kill them. Black Hand opens a massive black vortex that sucks Hal and
Sinestro within, but not before Hal and Sinestro fuse their rings together with
an unknown message.[27] However, they are later revealed to have survived, but
they are trapped in the mysterious Dead Zone.[28] As they venture through the
Dead Zone, Hal and Sinestro find a mysterious cloaked figure.[29] The cloaked
stranger reveals himself to be Tomar-Re, who asks Hal and Sinestro to stop
Volthoom, the First Lantern, from destroying reality.[30]

During a fight with Black Hand, Simon Baz (the new bearer of Hal's ring) enters
the Dead Zone and meets Hal and Sinestro.[31] Simon attempts to get Hal and
Sinestro out of the Dead Zone, but the ring can only take one of them. Sinestro
claims the ring and escapes the Dead Zone by forcing Hal to experience a moment
of fear when he threatens Hal with the loss of Carol. Hal contemplates
committing suicide so he could harness Black Hand's ring, as it is the only way
to leave the Dead Zone.[32] Later, Hal and Tomar-Re witness the arrival of the
Korugarians at the Dead Zone, realizing that Volthoom destroyed Korugar. Running
out of options, Hal finally jumps off a cliff.[33]

Acknowledging Hal's death, the black ring accepts him as its new wielder. Hal
then contacts the Indigo Tribe, who open a portal between the realm of the
living and the Dead Zone. Escaping from the Dead Zone, Hal unleashes a horde of
the undead against Volthoom, but Volthoom easily destroys the army and nearly
possesses Hal. After Sinestro, who has become Parallax's newest host, fails to
kill Volthoom, Hal goes to the Dead Zone and unleashes Nekron, who finally kills
Volthoom. After the battle ends, Hal lets go of the black ring and becomes a
Green Lantern once again, sealing Nekron back into the Dead Zone. As Hal
reunites with Carol, however, Sinestro reactivates his Sinestro Corps and goes
to kill the Guardians for everything they have done. Hal attempts to stop him,
but is too late and Sinestro has already killed the Guardians (except Ganthet
and Sayd, whom he secretly keeps alive with the help of Larfleeze, to be exiled
from Oa together forever, and one Guardian to end up being killed by Atrocitus,
to settle his feud with them). Then, Hal asks Sinestro if they ever were really
friends. Sinestro departs from Oa, saying that their greatest tragedy is that
they will always be friends.[4]

RENEGADE
As part of a scheme Kilowog called "hare-brained", Hal decided to frame himself
in order to demonstrate to the universe that the Green Lantern Corps would even
prosecute their own leader, repairing their reputation. He abandoned his ring
and stole Krona's Power Gauntlet.[34]
Hal became a bounty hunter of sorts, but found that the Corps had mysteriously
vanished, rendering his sacrifice pointless.[35] He spent some time
investigating and defeating Black Hand, whose contact with the Source Wall had
left him turning every planet he visited to contagious stone.[36]

DC REBIRTH
NEW LANTERNS
Following the disappearance of the Green Lantern Corps and the Guardians, Hal
Jordan had shifted into a being of willpower from his use of Krona's Gauntlet,
causing him to fade into energy. To counter this Jordan forged a new ring from
his own willpower to stabilize his person and began a search for any remaining
Lanterns.[37]
Sometime after this Darkseid War, Hal arranged a training exercise for new
Lanterns Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz. After they failed to work together, Hal
merged their power batteries forcing them to rely on one another to recharge
their rings and making them partners. He also introduced them to the rest of the
Justice League before leaving to find out what happened to the rest of the
Corps.[38]

RETURN OF THE LANTERNS

Coming across Sector 563 Jordan attempted to stop the Sinestro Corps present,
but became overwhelmed by the growing number and power of Sinestro’s forces.
[39] Captured but placed in the healing care of Yellow Lantern Soranik, who
wished to stop her father, the now reinvigorated Jordan began a full assault on
Warworld. Wreaking Havoc on the artificial world and downing countless Sinestro
Corps members, Jordan was finally met by Sinestro himself. Combating his once
friend, Jordan, with the Fear Engine failing and the area free of innocents
released his the raw willpower building up inside him, seemingly taking him,
Sinestro, and the Warworld out in one wave of raw willpower, leaving but his
Ring in the wake.[40]
Following Sinestro’s defeat, Jordan’s ring drifted towards the prison planet of
Nok in Sector 2814. Placing itself before two of the last Guardians of the
Universe, Sayd and Ganthet. Meanwhile, Jordan found himself in the Emerald
Space, an existential plane for those who gave their life to the cause,
alongside the spirit of Abin Sur and various other fallen Lanterns, who warned
Jordan of a coming threat.[41]
On the outside world with his life force draining from the ring, Ganthet called
upon Kyle Rayner to revive Jordan. Returning to life and with a clear mind the
news of the Corps safety sent Jordan out to find them alongside the rest.[42]
Finding Mogo to be empty, the band was soon alerted by communications being
reestablished under the warning of Larfleeze capture of the Corps. Joining the
battle, Larfleeze fled leaving the Corps to reunite once more.[43]
QUEST FOR THE BLUE LANTERNS

Jordan alongside Kyle was sent with the guardians to find The Blue Light of Hope
on a dying world. However the two found Saint Walker under attack by the Misery
Mound, a hope consumer and was subsequently captured themselves. Bombarding them
with mental images to wane their hope, Jordan and Kyle connected with each other
and destroyed the Mound allowing life to flourish on the world once again.
Thereafter they departed with Walker to Mogo.[44][45]
Within the GL command center Hal, Salakk, and John were approached by a
ring-bearing Rip Hunter warning of their eventual erasure from time before
passing out. Explaining that he came from a time where the Corps are no more due
to the machinations of Sarko, who saw the eventual absorption of the Yellows
into the Greens as an affront, Hal and the Corps were prepared for the attack of
Sarko’s swarm.[46] Attempting to destroy the swarm Jordan was pushed planetside,
recognizing the swarm as a creation of Krona’s Gauntlet. Feeling responsible,
Jordan departed for Sector 563.[47] Successful Jordan destroyed Krona's Gauntlet
leading to Sarko's death and later placing the gauntlet in containment.

FRACTURE

After the Fracture of the combined Green-Yellow Corps, Hal and Kyle, came across
a destroyed system. Orion, the New God in search of the Corps assistance was
then attacked by an omega-effect wielding Golem. Bringing the New God to a
nearby system, Jordan battled the machine as Kyle faked Orion's death causing
the machine to part.[48] Probing the God's mind with help of Two-Lobe back on
Mogo, the Corps figured out that the Golem's under Yuga Khan's orders were
searching and destroying his heirs thus requiring their assistance. Parting to
find Highfather and Lightray, Jordan's chase was joined by his late father's
spirit guiding him towards the faster target. Catching up, Jordan assumed
Highfather’s protection.[49] Bringing Highfather to the Source Wall, Jordan
joined the fight between the Corps and Khan’s Golems. Succeeding the Corps and
New God returned to Mogo once more gaining the respect of the New Gods.
TWILIGHT OF THE GUARDIANS

Jordan returned to Earth after hearing of Sinestro’s recent return. Reporting to
his old friend, Superman where the kryptonian spoke of his possession by
Parallax and subsequent sealing of the entity within Sinestro’s ring. Surprised
to hear a voice from the weapon, Superman revealed himself to still be possessed
and began battling Jordan. Coming back to his senses and seeing Clark as
himself, Jordan realized the voice to be that of a distressed Hector
Hammond.[50] Coming to his rescue against the Kroloteans, Jordan was momentarily
placed in a mental mirage of a joyous life with Carol Ferris before stopping the
aliens. However Clark, influenced by the suicidal Hammond killed Hector if not
for Jordan. Bringing Hammond to the aid, Jordan and Clark parted. Thinking of
returning to Carol, Jordan was stopped by his duties parting with the stars
before he could knock on her door.
During the Controller’s return, Jordan, Kyle, and Gardener split off to find the
lost Guardians. Intimidating information out of a bar and returning, the trio
pooled their information together with Stewart present. Figuring out where the
Guardians were, they all parted to Sector 3001.[51] Battling through the
Controller’s army the four Honor Guards attacked the Controller’s directly.[52]
Although pushed down by Kellic’s leader of the Controllers, Jordan and Stewart
were able to free the rest of the Guardians, bringing the retired ones back into
the Corps.[53]
DOOMSDAY CLOCK

After Superman is framed and rendered comatose, Hal Jordan joined the group of
heroes heading towards Mars to confront their mysterious enemy. The heroes meet
and engage Doctor Manhattan, but they are easily defeated.[54]

ZOD'S WILL

Hal and Kyle were sent to deal with reports of strange mining on a
pre-industrial planet in wake of the new Council of Guardians. Once planetside,
the two were ambushed by the new House of Zod and Eradicator.[55] Battling Zod,
Jordan was defeated and had his ring taken before being thrown in the Fortress
of Zod alongside Kyle. Wishing to talk diplomacy, Zod invited Jordan to speak,
but sent him back after his words. However, due to Jordan’s ring being an
extension of his own willpower, he was able to return the weapon to him,
shutting down Eradicator in the process. Grabbing Rayner, the duo figured out he
was mining rocks that could pierce constructs. With Kyle in a critical state, he
gave him his ring and sent him to return to Mogo.
Energized, he warned the rest of the Corps of the situation.[56] Jordan wasn’t
back in captivity long before the return of Rayner and the Corps. On the verge
of defeat Rayner returned the ring to Jordan with his own will added to it.
Overwhelming Zod, Jordan won but not before the Guardians entered. Ultimately
Jordan was forced to return to Mogo as Zod continued his work.[57]
DARKSTARS RISING

Jordan was next seen in the Sciencells with an unrepentant Tomar-Tu, admitting
to the Honor Guard of feeling no guilt over his murder of Romat-Ru he disturbed
Jordan with his words. In that next moment an autonomous Darkstar armor in
search of a volunteer, choosing Tomar-Tu. Before he could act Jordan was knocked
out before reporting the return to the Stewart.[58] With the return of the
upgraded Darkstars the group began murdering any criminals found deserving while
increasing their numbers, prompting the Corps to action. In route the Corps was
ambushed and teleported back to Mogo, but with Jordan being brought to the
Darkstars base where he debated with Tomar-Tu the ethics of what was happening
only for the latter to reveal that the Darkstars had begun using the Controllers
as batteries. Unable to compromise, Tomar returned Jordan to Mogo, the former
announcing that the universe was under their jurisdiction now. Knowing they need
aid in this one, Jordan, began searching for aid.[58] This came in the form of
Hector Hammond, but before he could free him, Atomic Skull, the warden, attacked
him.[59] Defeating him, Jordan and Hammond returned to space.[60] Landing in
Sector 563, Hammond began testing Jordan’s resolve. Overcoming the challenge the
two continued on their journey back.[61]
As the Corps distracted the Darkstars on Mogo, Jordan and Hammond cut off the
Controllers, effectively destroying their foundry and psychic link. Detecting
this, Tomar-Tu was able to teleport back before their teleportation was disabled
by Stewart and Zod.[62] Beating Tomar, Jordan overloaded their systems with his
willpower, defeating the Darkstars. With Zod searching for his head, Tomar
killed himself in shame of what he did. With the threat defeated, Jordan and the
Honor Guard watched over the new releasing of rings, before returning back to
Earth to see Carol.[63]

INTERGALACTIC LAWMAN

After a sojourn on Earth, Jordan returns to a New Oa where the Guardians reveal
to him that there is a traitor in their midst who reports to the returning
Controllers. Jordan in turn takes on the task of weeding them out by feigning
his own traitorous actions. [64][65] To start Jordan turned his attention to the
matter of recent missing planets and Evil Star report. Gaining information from
petty thief Retlops, Jordan soon leaves to find an aged Evil Star, leaving for
Earth he finds his homeworld missing.[9]
Attacking the Dhorians during their auction Jordan confronts the new owner who
had placed the now shrunken Earth in a compliant state for him to later consume.
Defeating Shepherd, killing one of the auctioneers, and earning the ire of the
Guardians he joined the Darkstars through Countess Belzebeth[66][65]. Moving to
Rann and forced to “kill” Adam Strange as a show of trust, Jordan met with the
Controller Mu who warned Jordan of his ultimatum knowing of his true
allegiances: surrender the universe to him or a universe-wiping bomb will go
off. With a returning Strange, having faked his death, and Alanna killing Mu,
Jordan took back his ring and used it to send it away, disappearing in the
process.[67]

After the apparent death of the Justice League, Hal, Superman, Black Adam, and
the Flash came up with plans to confront the Dark Army.[68] Hal met up with Kyle
Rayner and Jo Mullein in order to rally the Corps to confront the Dark Army.[69]
The Green Lantern Corps arrived at Ryut in Sector 666 and Hal, Jo, and Kyle
decided to go to Multiverse-2 and fight Pariah. During the fight, Hal got
trapped in John Stewart's paradise world.[70] The Flash saved Hal[71] and they,
along with other alleged dead heroes reunited and attacked Pariah.[72] After a
gruesome battle, the heroes managed to save the day again and Hal returned to
Earth.[73].
