For example, the late Dr Jean Shanks, from 1925 to 1999, enjoyed a successful parallel career as an NHS clinical pathologist and innovative entrepreneur by founding her own pathology company and improving certain lab test times from days to hours. Dr Shanks is one of many historical and present NHS professionals who have achieved success in medicine and business. They are the inspiration for this event.
