BUSINESS RESOURCE GUIDES * Morrisville Small Business Resource Guide * The Morrisville Small Business Resource Guide contains introductory information for new small business owners looking to learn more about the Town of Morrisville's ordinances and regulations. It also includes the answers to many frequently asked questions from Morrisville small business owners. * SBTDC Business Start-Up Guide * The Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) is a business advisory service organization hosted by the UNC System. The local center is housed at NC State University and provides business counseling to new or existing businesses. The SBTDC has created its Business Start-Up Guide, which includes excellent materials to help new business owners work through the business planning process. * SBCN Business Planning Guides * The Small Business Center Network (SBCN) is a business education center hosted by the NC Community College System. They have locations across the state, with the local center operating at Wake Tech. They offer free, one-on-one phone consultations with business advisors and detailed information about local, state, and federal regulations that can help new small business owners launch a successful operation. * The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program * The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program is a legislatively mandated program run by the U.S. Department of Transportation to ensure disadvantaged businesses have the opportunity to do business with the N.C. Below are several low cost and free resources available to Morrisville businesses. * ServSafe Certification Courses * Serve Safe Certification courses are available through WakeTech in partnership with the Town of Morrisville in English and Spanish. The course takes a minimum of 16 hours and can be scheduled at a time convenient to your business. * Instructors take time to give students the knowledge they need to apply skills in the real world, not just prepare them for the ServSafe Exam: * Food handling practices * Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system for assuring food safety * Personal hygiene habits * Safety regulations Sanitary Facilities and Pest Management * NCWorks * NC Works, the comprehensive workforce development system in North Carolina, provides a range of invaluable services and funding programs to support businesses in the state. * Through NCWorks Business Services, companies can access tailored solutions such as talent recruitment, training programs, and labor market information. Grants of up to $10,000 are awarded to eligible businesses in Wake, Johnston, Lee, Chatham, or Orange County for training of their workforce in areas including, but not limited to: technical training, certifications, leadership development, soft skills, and professional development. * Training may be for individual contributors, leaders, departments and/or teams. Funding is available for up to 12 months from time of award notification. Companies may reapply in subsequent years – lifetime maximum of $40,000 may be awarded to any individual business. * Work-Based Learning Co-Op * WakeTech offers work-Based learning (co-ops) that allow students to apply what they have learned in the classroom in an actual workplace setting. Students work for an employer in a position directly related to their field of study.
