My teams spent 20 years

building a bi-partisan blueprint to fix

AI, political division, disinformation, and encoded censorship.

It’s simple enough to teach to anyone.

We already test-drove it with a Bible college and the wokest school in America.
And it got conservatives, liberals, Christians, Jews, and Muslims

to work together.

Right now it’s living in this non-profit

and we have some of the top AI ethics experts in the world helping us turn it
into a citizen-powered platform/Batmobile.

But here‘s the punchline:

We built it out of (and for) comedians.

cALLING ALL COMEDIANS:

AI Isn’t Funny

This summer humans have a once-in-a-generation opportunity with schools and
state/federal lawmakers to fix this mess.

And the IDH has a wide open lane

and the ear of decision-makers.

But without some cash, we close next week.

Which is dumb.

So we’re throwing this Hail Mary to comedians.

AI Isn’t Funny

dedicated to Norm, for all the public and private reasons

that comedy keeps us free and human and honest and alive.

Chapter One:

Yup We’re Real and This Thing Works

I’ve been an

AI ethics, First Amendment, disinformation,

and postmodern politics

prof/expert for 20 years.

But when I started doing this work, no one understood WTF I talking about.

So I used comedy to explain it and turn your bits (and public controversies)
into easy frameworks and trainings for lawyers, politicians, programmmers,
citizens and students.

The clip is us defending Norm -- and Louis and Roseanne -- on the local news in
Minneapolis.

We don’t use comedy to push agendas

only to set guardrails on free speech & AI:

We look for things that the AI can’t understand (like Norm’s super meta bits or
The Colbert Report).

Or principles that comedians value but technology doesn’t (like context, and
free speech, and Norm’s persona versus medical privacy).

The video is AI explaining how we use comedy to regulate AI. it’s pretty close.

And then we build platforms so people who disagree can find points of agreement:

By translating the whole mess into a

2,000 year old nerd language

that is non-partisan,

already in the DNA of comedians

and the Supreme Court,

works across any industry,

is already taught to millions

and is easily adopted by schools.

Like: Immediately.

Chapter Two:

Why We Are In a Jam and Need Some Help

We have already the ear of local, state, and national elected officials,
schools, and companies. And we have dozens of national reporters crawling all
over our website.

But here‘s what they are all figuring out

(and why this non-profit is in a jam):

The backstage of this thing

was a total f**king nightmare

#Murderapolis, MN

Gory details are above

Our story made a CNN reporter at the Obama Foundation start tearing up, which I
hate and can‘t deal with. You have to laugh at this shit

or it will kill you.

The next couple of months are “make or break” on AI ethics, free speech,
disinformation, and our colleges.

And everyone is talking to exactly the wrong nerds:

i.e., the programmers who got us into this mess

and can’t get us out of it.

No one else, right now, has a non-partisan, and easily teachable, system

to deal with AI, privacy, disinformation, AND free speech.

Or a non-partisan/multi-faith “brand” to sell it. Or a way to explain

it to regular people.

Which is scary AF.

And why we’ve gone broke trying to protect it.

These are really dumb reasons for the country (and comedians) to lose a thing
that works when everyone is screaming for -- and open to -- actual solutions.

Every dollar helps, folks. Donate at: tinyurl.com/aiisntfunny

Details of how we spend money are there.

But also and for real:

Right now is the best window we,

will ever have to create

the post-digital world we all want.

So if anyone is down to clown in other ways, we are all ears.

Meanwhile,

here are some easy ones.

And if you somehow aren’t sick of my yapping,

in this video I explain exactly what we are up, the gameplan, how this thing
actually works,

and why comedians are critical.

Chapter Three:

Partnerships and Lending a Hand

#1 We Need Press to Mobilize Comedy Fans:

Podcasts (That Regular People Listen To) Help.

We’re from Nebraska and ain’t snobs:

I could explain algorithms to Larry the Cable guy fans on bad morning radio in
fifteen minutes -- or go down the rabbit hole with Roganites.

None of this AI Ethics stuff is actually hard. The nerds who run it just want to
make it confusing to get paid.

Deepfakes and hack

cancel culture vs. woke debates

are the tip of the iceberg.

The filter bubble and colleges are worse than you think. And the chatbots are
already shadowbanning

some of you.

And our stories -- Minneapolis, woke school, Bible school, exorcisms,

a Norm inspired student protest, shootings, bombs, militias, etc. -- are
bananas.

#2: We can train/coach your writers.

Or hire comedy writers to run our stuff.

We get it: AI ethics, free speech, disinformation, and cancel culture are a
complicated mess.

You don’t want to screw up your brand or put your foot in your mouth.

We have a simple meta-method to get your writers, researchers, and production
team

on the same page -- re: tech, democracy,

and the 1st Amendment -- fast.

What we don’t have are enough funny humans to execute our advocacy/social/pr
strategies.

Want to swap or sponsor some comedy writers?

#3 America Needs to Hear Our Story/Solutions.

But There Is No Way For Us To Find An Agent In Time.

We are sitting on a memoir, interactive textbook,

podcast (that can teach tech ethics in real time and strategically curate
community content/feedback).

And we filmed/recorded/cataloged almost everything for a documentary.

We have interested agents/companies,

but they can’t handle a multi-platform project. And we don’t have bandwidth to
micro-manage it.

It‘s basically just Curb:

All of the assets use the same “structure” to teach the same lessons about ai
ethics, disinformation, free speech, and privacy

It’s just updated and improvised every ‘season’ depending on what is happening
in the news and who the audience/students are.

Sometimes it’s J6 and Chris Rock and Jesus kids. Sometimes it’s COVID and Sarah
Silverman and art kids. Moving forward, it can be anything.

#4 We Are Already Talking to Investors for Our School, Citizen, and Government
Training Platforms.

The Feds just told every school, agency, and company in America that they have
to “do” AI ethics.

And we have a bi-partsian (and multi-faith) method (that is also compatible with
everyone else’s methods).

Which, at scale, is a license to

print money/fix things very fast.

(Since we can’t personally get rich doing this via a

non-profit, we’d rather work with people we like versus random tech bros.

If you have any interest, email info@theidh.org and we can send a pitch deck and
ROI details.

P.S. We could 100% sell “comedian branded” solutions to schools and companies
right now.

That’s low-hanging fruit.)

#4 The Norm MacDonald Institute for [X] at the University of [Insert Name]?

Right now our colleges would kill their own mothers to have something that let’s
them survive, let alone something that fixes their free speech mess

and makes them a top school in AI ethics.

Letterman and Carson already

have media programs.

And a university “home base” has enormous upsides.

Is it Norm -- or someone else’s -- turn?

Hilariously, of everything on this list,

this is the easiest item for us.

We could be rolling by fall.

We are already talking with law schools and have a deep bench of university
presidents.

If anyone is interested -- in this or any other comedy-adjacent higher ed
solutions or endowments -- now is the time. Holler at us at amckain@theidh.org

#5 The Goal Here Is Actually Fixing Stuff Fast, Not Ego.

We Are Open To Any Ideas, Including Handing This Off.

You all have media platforms, massive audiences,

and access to resources. We don’t.

Our teams are highly skilled (and can also run the Institute for Digital
Humanity on their own). I’m a free agent with my IP “leased” to the kids for
peanuts.

If you are seeing something here that would work better/faster under your
guidance -- or that you want without all the other branding baggage --

holler at me/us: amckain@theidh.org

Y’all are saints for reading this. As a human,

it’s hard to express the depth of my appreciation.

So here’s AI making that all sound inhuman and stupid.

Because AI is inhuman and stupid.
