LPS COURT PROCESS: THE LPS PROCESS CAN INVOLVE A COURT TRIAL OR A JURY TRIAL.
WHAT IS THE PUBLIC GUARDIAN’S ROLE IN EACH TYPE OF TRIAL? THIS SEMINAR WILL
DESCRIBE THE TRIAL PROCESS FROM BEGINNING TO END AND WILL INCLUDE A DESCRIPTION
OF THE EVIDENTIARY ISSUES WHICH CAN AFFECT THE OUTCOME OF THE TRIAL.

PRESENTER: Adam Pressman

Adam Pressman did his undergraduate studies at Reed College in Portland, Oregon
and went to law school at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. Mr. Pressman
retired from the Shasta County Counsel’s Office after 16 years, during which
time one of his main assignments was with the Public Guardian. While working
with the Shasta County Public Guardian, Mr. Pressman attended numerous court and
jury trials and was instrumental in Conservatorship of Lee C. (2017) 18
Cal.App.5th 1072, which held that a trial court was not authorized to order the
Public Guardian to file a petition for a Murphy Conservatorship.

The training will take place on March 9th from 10:00 am-12:00 pm via Zoom.

An email with the Zoom link and instructions on how to attend will be sent out a
day prior to the training.

The training is virtually designed to ensure that the benefits of in-person
trainings are still available. This will include being able to ask questions,
have access to the training materials, and converse with fellow members.

You must complete the entire registration process to be added to the training
list. You will know the process is completed when the page clearly indicates
confirmation that you are registered and provides a receipt. That receipt is
proof of your registration and is important to have for your records.

If you are new to using the Zoom platform, please research and practice prior to
the training. If you have any questions or concerns about the training or the
platform, please email us at info@capapgpc.org and a member of our team will
assist you.

STOP - Important Announcement: In August of 2020 Internet Explorer upgraded
their browser platform which has led to older versions no longer supporting our
membership site. If you wish to register for this event, you must use another
browser other than Internet Explorer.

Please stop registration now and access the registration link on another
platform such as Chrome or Firefox or another sanctioned county browser. Thank
you.
