SENIORS’ COLLEGE APPLICATIONS AND ACCEPTANCE SEASON

For many seniors across the country, the start of the second semester signifies
the beginning of the end of their high school careers. Most students have
already applied to their colleges and heard back from a few. We decided to take
a closer look at how seniors applied to colleges, and how their admission
decisions turned out.

It is common for college applicants to try to apply to as many colleges as they
can. We went around to a few Panther Creek seniors and asked them how many
colleges they applied to and the results were very similar. Seniors Keegan
McCann and Ian Fuller both applied to eight schools during their application
process. Both McCann and Fuller then added that they heard back from six of the
eight schools so far. Seniors Audrey Minter and Matthew Salmon both applied to
nine schools. Audrey has heard back from all nine schools, and Matthew has heard
back from eight of the nine that he applied to. Lastly, Senior, Saniyah Seth,
applied to fifteen schools and has heard back from all but two of them. 

Following their decisions, many applicants like to think back and say, “What
could I have done differently?”. McCann said “If given the chance to do the
process again, I would’ve started my applications a lot earlier”. When asked the
same question Fuller replied “I would try to do an internship”. Many others that
were interviewed said they would’ve gotten involved in more extracurricular
activities during their underclass years.

As seniors start the second semester, we would like to wish them the best of
luck while going through their college application process.
